Where I live, we get the October Caddis in the fall, last really big bug of the season. Change the color of the body to orange, and the wings not so dark, and have a blast if the fish are on to them. Not a heavy hatch, but the fish look for them.

Sound like that would be perfect George.

Great pattern is that the only size wing burner you have just curious as to what size wing the smallest burner makes my experience with burners is that they are always bigger than what is advertised my local caddis aren’t as big the largest being maybe a 12 smallest being 18 still a brilliant pattern
@Thefeatherbender Жыл бұрын
Hi Tyler, thanks. No you can get the burners in many sizes, just check out these from my good friend Maarten Van Eijk: www.maartenvaneijk.nl/tools/

I always look forward to your posts. It would be greatly appreciated if you could explain the details. What is this wing material ?
@Thefeatherbender4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the wings are from a grouse but you can also use pheasant or partridge. Good luck.

I'm a bit reticent of sharing anything to the maestro...indeed... Here it goes... Tim Flagler showed his technique of the antennae...he coats them with uv res before tying in... My experience is that they last maybe 7 minutes vs. 1 without...jmho... As always thank you for sharing your craft.
@jackcallaway12285 жыл бұрын
Very satisfying when you curled those antennas like ribbons! At this point I’m just watching your techniques, are there any flies that give you any trouble at all?
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Owen. No I can't honestly think of any!
@SkidinDingo5 жыл бұрын
those wings look like, if i stacked them on top of each-other instead of next to each-other, would make great wings for my local flying carpenter ants. might have to pick up that tool, and i'm sure putting a little uv resin or varnish on the wings will make them last a good couple of fish
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could, but it would probably be better if you used a midge wing burner for those, the shape would be more correct for flying carpenters.

@@Thefeatherbender probably. i just know they look great either way. wonderful video as always!

Really nice as usual BOC. Question, I suspect wing feather was not pretreated with flex cement? Thanks
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, thanks. No, just a natural feather.
