Thank you! I really enjoy the simple, minimal material, effective flies. It can be fun tying a multiple material, articulated fly from time to time, but without these simple, effective patterns, we’d never have the fancy ones!

I’ll try this for the tie-athon. I’ll bet the TU youth program will love it. Thank you Matt.

That s a superb fly. One of the best you hav shown here. It has everything-floats, simple and a real natural feel.Wonderful! I never understood why people tie massive heads on har caddis and then have a nightmare tying the fly on. Crazy!!:-)

Good morning Matt. Sunday morning on the desert means ☕️ and watching your video. Found this interesting. Never had much luck with dry flies but this past summer the caddis worked great. It was a fly that I bought somewhere or was given. After it got destroyed I tried to match it. Very similar to what you just tied but with a lightly dubbed blue grey body under the grizzly and a thread in chartreuse, (I experimented with orange and red) counter wrapped over the feather and then the wing. We will see how my version works for me. I gave some to a friend and he said they worked well. Hope you had a great weekend fishing. Take care.

Good Morning Sir Matt, a really nice looking Gray Caddis Bug, so easy and simple to tie. Could this be used as a guide fly?

Interesting. I’ve never seen a caddis with a dun colored body but a lot of tan or light browns could easily be seen as dun. I have had good luck with a dun & white or grizzly Bivisibles, so why not a dun caddis? Have good fishing!
