Your flies are truly works of functional art. Love your attention to detail and fishability. I'll add this pattern to my box. I already have a number of your patterns and have caught good fish with them, tapadh leat gu mòr.

It always amazes me that a fish will look for those tiny eyes but ignore the comparatively huge hook above them. Just one request Davie, could you do a video showing the various uses for all the different feathers on a partridge. I got a whole skin in a closure scale a couple of years ago and the neck end is getting a bit bare. I don't want to waste the rest of the skin.

I've been tying a number of jig types lately. I really like this one and that clear packing material. I've got my son digging some up right now. It's great to see 2022 in your opening shot. Have a great year Davey! Looking forward to seeing more of you.

Good morning. In my favorite lakes there are freshwater shrimp. Well I've read up on it some - but I just know. So thanks. I would love to catch a fish on this pattern. Tying a fly starting at both ends is something I just can't do. So your videos are awesome. : )

Jusr a thought, using an off set bead would give you a little more room on the hook for tying. I like the pattern, thank you for showing it.

I use a lot of gammarus patterns here in ICELAND 🇮🇸 I have been tying them " the easy way " with weight and shell facing away from the hook point ( on these hooks ) after I saw that they seemed to be swept any way in the current.

It sounds odd, but try combining olive and chartreuse in shrimp patterns for panfish. I did on a whim, and the bluegills started swallowing the fly and hooking themselves.

@benczarnecki9406 2 жыл бұрын
@@handcannon1388 wow I can imagine! Thanks for the tip I’ll definitely keep that in mind when tying this winter, I have always leaned towards brown and drab colors for panfish because they work so well but I do not doubt that chartreuse and olive could be great
@handcannon1388
@handcannon1388 2 жыл бұрын
@@benczarnecki9406 Two more tips. Instead of plain dubbing, I generally use dubbing with 15 to 30% flash added - as Davie did here. Also, try some mayfly nymphs with either Wiggle Dub for a thorax or use your choice of dubbing with a little Senyo's Shaggy Dub mixed in. You'll need to use either split-thread or a dubbing loop to apply it, but I bet it won't be the last time you tie nymphs that way.

Good Morning Davie. Thanks again for a great fly video. I notice that most of the flies you tie are tied on hooks with the eye bent up. Why is that? All the best to you and your family for 2022.

Will this pattern work for carp? Also if I may ask, why do you use mainly 8/0 thread on your flies? Is it because of the size hook you use?

I have a question/ idea ..for.. is there anything in existence online app for fly tying ? .. My aim in fly tying is to be lord and master of just a small number of flies that I use on a regular basis ..( and thanks to Davie I've achieved this goal ) . Thus with this my fly tying set up is frugal and set up just to tie these flies but I've probably got materials in my small collection to fly other flies too but i don't know what they are.... Thinking of the leg work,, I think it would be great to have a Flytyerpedia app where I can filter materials... input primary feather .. hit return and get a list of flies, wet or dry ,, large or small where that feather appears... Any takers ??
