I did enjoy it, Davie... thank you. I've never seen a floating nymph like this. I'm used to CDC bubbles or floating yarn spun on the thread, then held above the fly, and pushed down into a ball-shape. This method looks a lot more durable than the floating yarn ball. Thanks again. Mike

Mr. McPhail, it looks like another fly that should do the trick. Excellent as always sir. If you sold DVD's on your tying, I'd buy every one of them. Thank you sir.

Great little fly Davie.can you use areo wing instead?I take it you tie them in various colours
@DavieMcPhail6 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, Yes Areo Wing would also be a good material to use instead of the Polypro. It's a great style and tyed in any colour that you feel would work for you as this is what I do..I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie..

I want to get into tying flys, what do I need to get started
@Adipper6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Stone Suggest you start with a Partridge Skin, Peacock, Hares Ear, and Pheasant Tail as base materials. For tools, do not skimp on quality. Pick up a bobbin, whip finisher (Matarelli), and bodkin. Start with nymph patterns such as PT and Hares Ear, focus on proportions. Catching a trout with a fly of your making very satisfying. Pick up a book on aquatic entomology. All the best.

That is hard to answer; especially without any background. Are you already a proficient fly fisherman? What species do you plan to pursue? What is your budget for this hobby? What are your expectations? Answer these questions, and I (and perhaps Davie, if he has time) can give you better advice.

Larry Banda where can I get the stuff
@handcannon13886 жыл бұрын
Matthew, then I assume that your expectations aren't too high, and you would be happy to make something and catch fish on it; probably on spinning tackle behind a float. Your budget may be a problem, but Christmas and birthdays help in that regard. I would suggest asking for a basic fly-tying kit and trying to tie some simple panfish flies, like foam spiders, and going after bluegills and small bass. If you can find the funds (probably a couple hundred dollars), you can message me through my channel, and I'll try to see if I can find you a deal.
