Davie, top class fly as per usual. For years I've been struggling with teal wings and only last night I was tying a Peter Ross but had more teal on the bench than on the wing, trying to fold and bend the teal. Thanks a million for showing us such an easy method for doing it. Keep up the great work your doing. Cheers, Donie Goulding, Cork City.

Really a good wet fly for trout, here in the lowland creeks in Norway. For salmon there is also a fly called "telemarkskongen" (the king of Telemark) the only difference is the size of course, and that the tail is a red tag, and not golden phesant....

Great, simple pattern... this fly has given me my best sea trout in sweden!!!

Well done.. That is a beautifully colored fly.. I will try this on sea run cutthroat trout here in Washington state this fall. They love the Jack Dennis spruce fly patterns so I am guessing this one will be a smashing success as well.. Thx, and again well done..

Wets do not seem to be as popular as they once were in the States; but they are an enjoyable way to fish and still productive on any given day. Great Fly Davie! Jon

Gorgeous fly. Elegant in its simplicity as well. I bet it would slay Pacific Coho out here on teh west coast of Canada. Will tie some up and report back. :-)

It is amazing to note the evolution of the sport, eh? Once classic wets were a staple in the brook trout streams of the northeast, and if fact many patterns were originated from there. (check out Ray Bergman's flies, for instance.) And then think about modern flies today with giant articulated streamer patterns used out west, as well as the myriad of nymphs for pretty much every piece of water in the world. It makes us tiers very very happy.

Can you use mallard instead of teal in sea trout patterns
@DavieMcPhail2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph, Yes definitely, tye a few with a bronze mallard wing as they can fish just as well at times, it's also worth tying some with a gold or even a copper body when using the bronze mallard.. All the very best Davie..

Hi Steve, I don't have a dvd of the Teal Blue and Silver, many do download the videos and don't ask but if you want to then I don't mind as long as it is for your own personal use, so thank you for asking.. All the very best Davie...

It is very kind of you to allow Ernie to watch them especially when you are not interested in fishing... All the very best

Hi Davie, since starting to tye my own flies at the start of the year I have been an avid follower of your fantastic videos.. keep 'em comin :) Watching them being tied by yourself has only been an invaluable lesson. I was wandering how well you rate this fly in targeting dollaghan as I intend to fish for them over the coming weeks. I saw your dollaghan fly (looks great) but what other flies might you suggest I tye to target this species of trout? much appreciated, thanks in advance, Charlie.

Hi Davie, I have watched most of your videos and get great delight in tying (I do my best) your style of flies, but I cannot download this one, is there a reason for this? as I certainly would like to give it a try.

Hey Davie are you coming to Iceland in the fishing store Veiðiflugur?
@mize65448 жыл бұрын
Hello Davie. I have already watched many of your videos and must say that you have done a great job, as thy are all very informative. I live in the Southeast US and primarily fish brown and rainbow trout. Seeing as how many of your salmon patterns seem like they'd work well for trout, I was wondering which you would recommend?
@DavieMcPhail8 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael Robinson, The Teal Blue and Silver would be a good choice, others worth a go are the Dunkled, Blue Charm, Goats Toe, Thunder & Lightning, Sweeny Todd, Dark Mackrel and the Small Jock Scott. Although to be honest you can tye most salmon flies to a size that would suit fishing for trout as many have done...I'm glad you enjoy watching the videos and thank you for your kind words... All the very best Davie
