Here’s an old standard saltwater pattern, Lefty Kreh’s Deceiver, tied in a 3” size to catch Coho Salmon in saltwater. The pattern features the fluorescent chartreuse and pink that these salmon love to chase. Although it incorporates quite a few materials, any tier with moderate skills should be able to manage it.
Hook: Ahrex SA220 #6 or any standard saltwater hook #4
Thread: UTC 140 denier, color to match tail
Tail: six Chinese rooster neck hackles, fluorescent pink or chartreuse, with a single strand of holographic silver Flashabou and 3-4 strands of pearl Flashabou along the sides
Body: flat diamond braid in silver or pearl, with an underbody of white supreme hair/super hair
Wing: fluorescent pink or chartreuse bucktail, topped with 3-4 strands of peacock herl
Throat: red Krystal Flash
Head: thread to match tail color, coated with UV resin over 3/32” super-pearl adhesive eyes
