Brilliant tie, Davie. Wow! Especially loved the technique for the head. I always learn new techniques when I watch your videos. So excited to tie this version!

Fantastic tying as usual this pattern works superbly well when a good wave blows up takes browns and rainbows.

Gem of a pattern Davie. Just revisited this as I’m now stocking up again for the much anticipated Spring season. This particular fly helped me a lot this year in a size 10 & 12 when using it as a heavier point fly with a size 18 midge dropper. Great for extra buoyancy and as a strike indicator when the water gets choppy dealing with fussy trout

I just love to tie muddlers. Messy but fun. I learned to tie them from you Davie, so most of my buddy's think they are a bit too well trimmed. I like them as perfect as I can get them and not trim too much. It is a delicate balance. You have a meticulous style that is the best I have seen. The flies are great, and the materials are used to their potential. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. All the best, Sean

Just bought a vice today and hopefully one day I'll be able to tie something this nice! This fly does really well in the large river next to my home.

Hi Davie, Glad to hear that your catching fish. I've officially gave up on the Irvine, spent ages down and had very little to show. When I do get a fish its usually no bigger than 4". The river was stocked with 150 brownies but they've ran away to hurlford I think. Awell I guess I'll have to stick to the Fisheries, Best Regards, ~David

Davie! great pattern...here in bc we have a massive caddis on the lakes called a sedge...the go to pattern is basically this with hackle called a mikaluk sedge...i think the muddler head will keep it up even better, important because we usually move it the way the sedge runs across the top to stay alive till it can fly. always learn from your videos. many thanks
