Davie, I decided to give this pattern a go this evening but didn't have any appropriately sized hackle to complete the front section for a size 10 wet fly. So I decided to complete the front hackle with a dubbing loop made from rabbit zonker strips cut from the hide - the same as you would do with spiky squirrel tail dubbing, stroked backwards as is standard operating procedure for soft hackle. I've seen Slumpbuster Flies finished in the same way so i decided to adapt for a smaller hook size. Came out WAY better than expected. In fact I think it's even better than hen hackle since it's much more variegated in color and length once it's wound on. Just something for your notes and files as I've never seen or attempted this technique on smaller wet flies before. I may have sinned on the original pattern but I think this may be an improvement. Thanks for the videos and instruction as always. Pete

Hi Davie, I begin by congratulating and thank you for all your nice fly tying videos available here for free on KZbin. I especially appreciate your technique and so many usefull tricks which help us to improve our own. Regarding this particular flie, i wonder if it is a dry or wet ? The patern is similar to a wet but i wonder how it could sink with so much hackles and feathers and no lead to increase its weight ? Thanks in advance for your answer...Best regards, AL

Hi Davie, Absolutely gorgeous fly, you really have a talent for tying. Watching your videos has gotten me back into tying more then ever before. Quick question though, have you had any luck fishing your wet fly patterns in North Eastern American rivers? Many Thanks, Chad

Hey Davie, Great fly, as usual. I am going to tie this fly, and being that I can't get out to fish it, I will give some to a friend and see if this fly is productive in Maine waters. I really didn't have anything to say, but being an Irishman I couldn't leave it here without a comment. I had to say Something! All the best, Sean

hello Davie this an excellent videos like all your others but why do you choose to use a saddle hackle instead of normal cape hackle ? and will this fly work on rivers and steams too? thanks.
