I'm new to flying tying and watch many of your KZbin videos where I learn a lot, struggle to make mine look like yours.

Shame I barely stubbled onto your site. I could watch you tie all day. You make this look effortless and such an easy way of speaking to the camera. Really nice.

Thanks for your version Davie. I tie my own variant due to materials I have and use it on warm water all the time. I have even caught bass with it! I look forward to your next fly.

Hi Dave, Beautiful fly, not unlike the hare's ear nymph, I tied this with a squirl tail and rabbit dubbing as i' don't have a squirl body patch, still worked a treat, i also tried it with a gold bead and it also worked well; on a size 10 and 12. love watching you vids and really looking forward to trying some more of your patterns throughout the season. again thank you for sharing your talent. Aidan..

I remember when Dave Whitlock put this pattern out. I tied some pretty clumsy versions of it and they caught fish! It's still a great pattern today.

PERFECT ! bravo .... looks so easy ........ untill realize that ALL your comments and tricks are so important ... I love your work ...... and most of all unlike a lot of fanatstic and beautifull flies that catch the fisherman First ..... your ones are intercontinental and are so loved by THE FISH ... i use 5 or 6 of your models in the south of France and they're just KILLERS ...

Hello Davie, I've used your partridge hackle trick quite a bit since you taught it to me. I've been trying to use partridge on some very small flies (Sly's Midge... Sylvester Nemes) on #18 B-160 and am getting too close to the tip for the trick to work. I've tried rolling fibers into a collar (like rolling deer) and it's not working. Are there other ways to use "too big" partridge in a spider form on tiny flies? Mike

Davie, do you now use adhesive-backed lead in preference to wire for most of your weighted flies?
