As a fly angler for many years but a completely new tier, I'm finding your videos mesmerisingly wonderful and tremendously informative. Thank you.

This is an absolutely devastating fly on it’s day. I mean a fish a cast! Fished on a washing line. Especially during red flying ants. Thanks Davie! It’s one of the best flys in my box! P.s I don’t bother with the holographic head works more than great!

Really nice fly Davie, there are so many ways to tie these patterns and the longer I watch and tie the more I realize, I could tie the rest of my life and not have just one of each fly out there. Excellent as always. Thanks for sharing, God bless you and yours. Sean

Nice as always. A tip for cleaning the eye is use a hackle. The fibers clean the glue out nicely and can be used for a long time.. Cheers.

You make them all look simple, i find these hard to tie even though there is not a lot to it. I struggle to stop the tail flaring out also the same with the beard.

Davie, can you confirm or refute this: I was told that this would translate as, “Devil’s Hook.” And, with Welsh retaining some pronunciation from old English, it would sound something like Dyuh-fels Bah. I haven’t heard a straight answer on this internationally important topic yet. (-;

Can this fly be weighted?
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, Yes you could easily weight these flies. I have tyed a few river diawl-bachs as this style is great on the rivers as much as they are on the lochs..I have attached one of the river versions that I have tyed and fished though it's not weighted.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmG1ZamFhradack All the very best Davie..

What is the best to fish a diawl bach
@alanpartridge69434 жыл бұрын
Would like to know this as well, could someone please give some advice, thanks in advance
@rhyspercey38804 жыл бұрын
@@alanpartridge6943 best way to fish diawls or indeed any other type of nymph is either in teams of 2 or three on a floater or midge tip fly line and cast into the wind.Just a slow figure of eight to bring in the slack line.The other way to fish them and my most preferred method is the washing line. 2 or three of these on droppers with a boobie or fab on the point to keep the flies high in the water.If the fish go deeper then replace the boobie/fab with a buzzer to get down a bit deeper.Hope this answers your question.Tight lines.

i was tieing a fly using some super glue today..i am right handed and was holding some stuff with my left hand..i did not notice.. but i had some superglue flow on my left hand.. well went to grab the vice with my left hand..and found out every quickly, that i just superglued 3 of my fingers to the vice... no problem....i thought..i have some acetone in the house... so i looked for it.....none at all in the house.. so checked both my hands carfully to make sure that no glue was lurking about...( did not want to glue myself to my cars steering wheel ) i drove to my local hardware store... and asked the young lady i know that works there....where can i find a small bottle of acetone... she asked why.. i showed her what i did... glued my hand to my vice, that i was carrying.. she laughed. and took me to the rear of the store,, and tooka pint of store use acetone off the shelf, and helped me unglued my fingers..i will be buying her a christmas gift this year
