Speaking of talking too much; the depth of fishing/fly tying experience cached into your tutorials: hints, tips, downright bad ass nuggets are shortcuts teaching us way more than we should know--very much enjoyed and appreciated!! Randy c

Those vertical eye hooks make trailers *so* much easier. I'd like to see some with a (more or less) Gammy B-10S design - heavier wire, medium length, wider gape. Great fly! Love your videos!

Terry, like you I hate wasting material. In order to eliminate materials from pulling out of zip ties, I simply apply a couple drops of thin UV resin to the zip tie and the material to lock them in place.

Thanks Kelly! My fishing partner and I focus on lakes and reservoirs so I’m going to adapt your pattern to tie a rainbow minnow, a chub minnow, and a white attractor minnow. Thanks so much for the fantastic pattern. Your fly shop had everything I needed in terms of tying materials for the three colors I plan to tie. Best regards!

When you look at that fly for fitting into your rotation on color. Where do you put it? White ? I make a few flies with that problem. Either way. It doesn't matter. Love that fly. I picked up a few from your shop. Haven't slammed any hogs yet. But it sure is a dancer 💃 thanks for the video.

43:05 UV light isn’t good for your eyes, but it depends on how powerful the light is. Don’t stare into it and you’ll be fine.

Good afternoon Kelly, I was wondering what, if any, the functional purpose of putting the tail on after the tinsel halfway up the rear hook shank?

As a guy who really tries to use up all my materials, I am just wandering if the baitfish emulator would be as good as the predator wrap?? And.... I take all "the junk" that comes off materials and I have a few "sandwitch size" zip lock bags ( one for dark one for blue/green/etc)and a lot of it goes in there to make dubbing.

What a killer looking pattern! Just tried to downsize this using a 8 and 6, but it's still quite a big pattern. What was the overall length of this pattern? Love the videos... awesome work

Also, would you have any reservations about adding a bead for weight up front, maybe right behind the material layers??

Kelly, do you find that your streamer patterns work better in certain areas than others? Meaning, do they work better in your area, but with me being in Virginia they won't be as effective because they don't imitate the local bait fish? Most of the trout I have access to will be more around the 1 foot in length kind of size

Hi Kelly: thank you for a great tutorial and sharing all the new materials i now need to buy, je je. When you are gluing the eyes w/ uv resin, the tube has a small curved metal spout--is that the same Solarez medium shown in the package? I am using a loon "thin" that is not thin but a gluppy mess! Please, Help!! Thanks a bunch, Randy c
@kellygalloup
@kellygalloup Жыл бұрын
Randy, Its medium Solarez, I use med on the first coats in particular so it does not run up the material and go past the eyes. Whenever I use the thin it runs up my wings a little and makes a hard sot in the wing which I assume will break the wing off. Kelly

Is the slick willy a pearl necklace with a different front end? And if so, what was the reason to make a different fly? That is not the same as the original pearl necklace instrument. Which was closer to having a jig style head attachment. There are so many flies in the archive now described in these tutorials. What one tends to lose, is the relationship between the different flies. We've learned a lot about the flies individually, but not as much as to their combination or relationship (for example, in the way that gear anglers would talk along those lines). About the different bites, feeding patterns that happen in parallel and at the same time on stretches of water. For instance, if one suspected that the pearl necklace type of bite was changing a bit. To where fish had positioned differently and higher in the water column (or the fish are feeding up slightly, rather than hugging the bottom more). Does one recommend carrying both of these flies? Or any others? As a recommended practice or strategy to try? For example, early season when temperatures might flucturate a bit day by day. And one might get bites on either one or other. A lot of fly anglers will look at both these flies and not even notice a difference between them. Yet, the difference could be significant.

Very cool pattern. My question is, for those of us that don’t have a rotary vise with all the gadgets and gizmos that obviously make tying this type of fly easier, is it worth it (without a lot of swearing) to attempt this kind of pattern. A second question would be, what is your opinion on the limits of fly patterns feasible for a standard vise.
@TheSlideinn
@TheSlideinn Жыл бұрын
Michael, absolutely you should tie it. The whole rotary thing is a nice tool but frankly I frequently (especially on this fly) just wrap by hand. You really have more control over your materials by hand and I like to see people start manual and then go to a rotary. One of the greatest tiers in the world in my option is Davy McPhail and he is total stationary guy. Thanks for watching, Kelly
