Great pattern variation. I’m new to fly tying and am looking forward to tying some of these and using them in the Texas Hill Country this spring.

These are great for panfish! Was admiring the green squirmy worm fly - tied with black bead-chain eyes, longish partridge collar and a shorter tail would be an awesome damsel nymph imitation. Will have to get some of the green squirmy stuff! Cheers Darren! Hank

Hank, that sounds cool and reminds me that I've been meaning to tie a damsel one of these days. I used to fish quite a few back in the day. I can send you some of the green, email me. Cheers

@@PiscatorFlies Darren, just thought that I would mention that the best adhesive I've found to use around squirmy material is Bishers "Tear Mender". Tear Mender is very stretchy (not as much as the squirmy though) holds well and doesn't damage the squirmy material. Use the stuff to glue eyes on a lot of my pike streamers - like the way it penetrates and bonds everything together.

@@hankvana2149 Hank, thanks for the heads up on the Tear Mender. Is this the stuff you use? amzn.to/2GG9Qnd I'll have to pick up a bottle to try it out. Cheers

First time I’ve seen that variation. Thanks! Seems easier to manage than wrapping the squirmy material around the hook and pulling over the bead or through it. I’ll have to try it out.

Scott, thanks for the comment, I agree, the squirm can be a little tough to tame, this one is definitely a little simpler than some of the others. Good luck at the vise, cheers

was thinking about using this material for inline musky spinners. Doesn't look like you could double it over very easy.

Chimo, nice one Darren. It's just the right size for a half night crawler presentation ;o) perfect! I saw the thumbnail for this so I checked my g mail and there was a notification but it came up unavailable. Later I checked your uploads and there it was. Did you you redo it? I was thinking your stickers or deckles are so nice you should have sew on patches made. Cheers
@PiscatorFlies5 жыл бұрын
Chimo Joe, I did get some magnets made with the logo. I'll keep an eye out for patches. It would be cool to run into one on the water one day. I made an error on the upload, but I was able to trim the original video and didn't need to upload. Just an extra 10 minutes of black at the end. lol trying to pad my watchtime, jk. Cheers

Nice fly. Do you find that you get short strikes with the long tail?
@PiscatorFlies5 жыл бұрын
Dave, Yes, you can get some short strikes. If I run into that, I just cut down the tail a little. I usually tie them long and only cut them down if the fish require it. Cheers
