@@GraceReport well, he has a strong case in that she is so unstable that she has been hospitalized multiple times. She doesn't get after care and all the filming is proof of whatever he needs to show how selfish she is. I have depression/anxiety, ADD, and probably PTSD from what happened to me a couple years ago, but my kids are my life and my motivation and I don't take meds either. I do alternate herbal (no, not pot), natural and alternative medicines. It's a struggle, but if I couldn't take care of my kids, id do whatever it takes, even regular meds if I needed to for my kids. She just doesn't care and the whole psychiatric system is screwed up and all about popping pills with horrible and sometimes irreversible side effects, and she has no qualms.about popping all those pills and those pills make you suicidal and worse in as many ways as they make you better. The system is all about putting yourself first to the exclusion of others, about a revolving door in and out of the hospital, not long term fixing oneself and getting better for good...not about developing your own coping skills and getting stronger... Just keep popping pills at every little worry and stressor. I live in Arizona, work in healthcare, and in many areas, including psych hospitals, and actually had seen Tyler driving back from visiting Cate on my way home from work early one morning a while back. He was behind me and I could see him in my rearview mirror...he looked absolutely miserable then and let's just say TV makeup does a lot for him..he looked haggard and hopeless as he drove. Like he was defeated and beyond sad. At the time, I didn't know he was that stressed by the situation, now I understand.. Anyway, sorry for the long comment....and thanks for your awesome videos and points of view

I think she is depressed and guilty for giving up her daughter for adoption. Right or wrong, in her mind, she realizes it was a huge mistake and is regretful big time... look back and you can see that she realized this after one of her last visits with Carly...her and Tyler plop down on their couch all depressed and forlorn....they questioned themselves if it still was the right thing what they did, the and then they lie to themselves by saying it was...that's when she really started to go downhill mentally and emotionally and I could see how it affected her deep down...also, making it worse,Tyler was angry and had rebelled against Brandon and Teresa and they wouldn't let them see Carly. Now Cate didn't voice this in so many words..but she believes it was a cop out..and worse yet, instead of making sure she didn't repeat a similar mistake by letting Nova down, she is also copping out on Nova using her depression as the excuse and so screwing this kid up by abandoning her as well. Carly no doubt feels abandoned when she sees Nova with her biological parents and wonders why she too can't be with them. It's heartbreaking and Cate cannot deal with what she's done and continues to do. She plays it off that it's the right thing,but inside she knows it wasn't. She always questioned her decision out loud to Tyler...Tyler always says it was the best decision at the time..Cate quietly agrees ,but you could see in her eyes the regret and guilt weighs on her...so what I see is Cate is screwed up in the head by this.... and now she is beyond hope because she keeps abandoning Nova too, and will also do it to the new baby. She has no business having kids and that adoption counselor she still keeps and her psych team are doing her no favors by lying to her, telling her adoption was for the best when you can clearly see Cate has been seriously questioning her decision and because she can't deal with it and all.people.around her don't see what's going on within her, so she keeps lying to herself also and not coming clean about her feelings that eats at her with guilt. If she could admit to that, or someone help her to admit to it, cry about it, accept it, and move forward, she can avoid continuing doing the same with Nova and later to the new baby,it could be avoided, but nope, the guilt continues to pile up until someday she commits suicide. Everyone keeps just saying it was the best decision while ignoring what is glaringly obvious to me. I also think she gave up Carly by feeling pressured by Tyler too, you could see she wouldn't have done it if Tyler had said let's keep Carly. It was like.she did whatever he wanted. Not saying Tyler was wrong...he was just too young and confused to make any decision like that... but it was indeed their biggest mistake, one they may ruin their whole lives over and it's quite sad. That said...Cate needs to wake.up and take responsibility and take the reigns already. Her kids depend on her!

If I remember correctly, I think the reason Tyler is so nonconfrontational with Cate is because seasons back a therapist told him that he needed to be more “supportive” of Cate. So he should refrain from pushing her forward in life and basically walk on egg shells around her. He literally went to the therapist to learn how to help Cate better with her depression. He had a worksheet of appropriate phrases because per the therapist, telling Cate to “get out of bed, shower, do something” was damaging. He used to be more vocal and honest with Cate but after that meeting I think he’s been too concerned about NOT being supportive. I think that therapist’s advice was awful. I thought so at the time and I think it’s only helped to perpetuate an ever increasing unhealthy relationship.

What I found odd was Caitlyn so articulately talking about depression and taking the praise for being a role model for others who suffer depression. Tyler looked at her like she had two heads. She sounded PERFECTLY TOGETHER. Have you ever seen her rationally discuss ANY OF THIS with Tyler? For that matter I haven't heard her exhibit that kind of rational expression during any conversation since early on in the series...in other words years. So this is my issue with that, it is simple. I had significant post partum depression after my second and third child just as many thousands of women do, many of you here now in fact. I wasn't able to turn it on and off at will. So which time is she acting? When she is with Tyler...or in front of the cameras with the doctor (I guess he was a doc). I made myself do the things I had to do and held my kids close. That was the BEST MEDICINE. Beyond that everyday was a struggle. Don't misunderstand, I was in love with each of my children from the moment I learned I was pregnant and even more when I first held them in my arms. The depression was just there. In time it subsided and went away. But when I was going through it, There was NO WAY I could have just shook it off and appeared to have been perky and together for ANYONE. Then when Tyler asked to work on the sheet together for His counseling she almost hit the roof! Then she turned on the "guilt you out tears"! She is losing her husband because of selfishness. She could not care less about his health or his needs...only hers.

I have BPD(borderline personality disorder), there's actually no medication for BPD specifically and that maybe why he says he doesn't believe in it. You can cope with DBT(Dialectical Based Thinking skills), and you may be prescribed an antidepressant and an antianxiety medication.

I'm so glad Tyler finally had the courage to tell Catelynn exactly how he's been feeling. Poor guy I think he had it bottled up in him for a couple years now. I'm sure it was a huge weight lifted off the shoulders. Hopefully she takes it seriously and starts making some real changes cause they have another kid on the way & if they don't start working on repairing the damage it's only going to snow ball out of control more once the baby girl has arrived. I really don't want to see them have to get a divorce & I know that's the last thing Tyler would want to do. But you're right Grace, he has to think about his mental health for once first instead of his wife, his dads & his sister. I was so angry when Maci was explaining to the producer what she thinks PCOS is. She is wrong. PCOS is a metabolic disorder. Women who have it have a hormone imbalance. We have too much male hormones which causes weight gain in the stomach area, facial hair growth, irregular periods, no periods or heavy periods. It also causes infertility. Every woman I know with PCOS is over weight. Yes, it does cause cysts in your ovaries that rupture all the time without you even knowing. It’s rare to have a huge cyst rupture. If she’s going to be a PCOS spokesperson she needs to educate herself on what PCOS is!!! I’m so over this show. I didn’t even finish the episode. I’ll just watch your recaps.

This is a great observation and im compelled to point out their backgrounds. April, Amber, Butch...none of the people around them are go getters by any stretch of the imagination. In fact the only one who seems to hold down a job is tylers mother. I think a lot of their laziness and lack of focus is a byproduct of their half assed upbringing if i can be completely honest. If they weren't on the show theyd be doing little more than just getting by on their government checks. Sorry not sorry.

Money motivates people to do things, they have everything they need, what else are they supposed to be doing? Get jobs, for what? Maybe they should just take their daughter and go see the world. Travel and try to forget their problems there. Adopt a child maybe. Maybe she should become an advocate for keeping your child and maybe she should go make a charity for people to keep their babies and stop focusing on herself so much.

I just have to get this off my chest. When Caitlynn’s episode first aired I think she was in braces and she always had tons of plaque in her brackets and wires and her gums were always inflamed. I’ve noticed that it’s never changed. She still had red, inflamed gums and plaque all over her teeth. Maybe it is the depression, but damn, it’s always bothered me.
