@janathelamb36 жыл бұрын
Maci said the private school would cost at least $25,000 per year. That is probably more than tuition to a state university in Tennessee for a year. If they sent him to private school it would be like paying for Bentley to go to college 3 times (Grades 6-12 + actual college). Then they would feel obligated to pay that for their other two kids as well. That’s the equivalent of paying for a college tuition 9 times. I think it’s absurd to expect that they cough up that kind of money when public school is just as good. Also, if they paid for that they would have less money for other things. Bentley will be no better off at private school.

I agree, it’s actually smarter for Maci to save up for college for all her kids. College is expensive and she has 3 kids lol. In the United States private schools aren’t always the best option. We had a lot of private school kids transfer to my highschool because we offered the AP and IB program.
@BhappyD6 жыл бұрын
Georgia C Thank you! It all depends on where you live. My parents weren’t rich by any means, but they were certainly penny pinchers and only bought the necessities so they could put the rest of their paycheck in savings. Due to that, my parents could have afforded to put me in private school, we even toured a few, but they still decided to keep me in public school because the district we were zoned for was one of the best in the state, and offered FAR more than any private school ever could. I’m so thankful that they kept me in public, as in my personal opinion, it makes for a much more well rounded child, surrounded by a wide range of diversity that you just don’t get in private schools, which further prepares you for the real world (instead of being sheltered by only being surrounded by peers who live the exact same lifestyle as you, and share the same beliefs). I found it hilarious when I would hear of parents putting their kids in private schools to prevent them from falling in with the wrong crowd, when in reality the private schools in the area were the MOST notorious for drinking, drugs, and partying, FAR more than the public schools. They all had a well known bad reputation that was known by all of the public school students. Just because it costs more, that doesn’t automatically make it better. If I ever have children, they will be going to public school even if I could afford private, unless we lived in a bad school district (which I would still rather move to be zoned for a better public school rather than pay for private). I 100% back Maci for not sending Bentley to private, even though she could afford it, and I’m sure there are other reasons behind that decision that weren’t discussed on camera. If I was Maci, I would be furious about my child’s grandparent planting such big adult decisions into my child’s head, behind my back, without discussing it with me first. Especially when her own grown child is a hot mess who she continues to make excuses for. She’s not Bentley’s parent, and she had no business doing what she did.

Attending private school is not a need. It’s annoying hearing you speak about private school the way you are. University is already super expensive in the states. They are thinking about all their children not just Bentley and that’s okay.

Fulvous Night I totally understand but there is nothing wrong with public school. At the end of the day Maci is a great mom. She provides her children with everything they need. I went to a public high school in North Carolina and it was a school of excellence.

@@appppppppppppppppful I agree, Maci is a good mum, best of the bunch save Chelsea. Interesting to hear about southern schools. Plenty of people consider that before having more kids. I enjoy watching Grace review Teen mom but I'm not sure how much longer I can hold on watching how flippant she speaks about mental health. I have enough compassion and empathy to understand that mental health is so brand new to some people and I think the awareness grew when it came to "bullying" and that kids were committing suicide because of their emotional distress. But to call someone suffering from PTSD exhausting and to expect anyone including Catelynn and Tyler's sister to act in a rational, balanced manner including to come to the realization that they need to commit to therapy makes me understand how much more everyone needs to learn about mental health and I'm glad awareness and information and understanding is growing. I implore you Grace, to please even google addiction, PTSD and depression and just read the symptoms so you have a better understanding and have a bit more empathy even considering there may be people watching you who are suffering and might take your comments as offensive, which I'm sure you don't mean. It's just that you don't understand. I hope it does not take you going through it or someone you love, even postpartum depression if you have children, for you to understand. Consider if someone who has cancer complained about being in pain everyday. You wouldn't consider that exhausting, you likely feel like you would do anything to take their pain away. This is no different. Just because you can't see it or don't understand it, doesn't make it any less real. Thanks

I'm usually down with everything you talk about, but saying Dakota is a broken record is NOT ok. I have military friends & family, my grandfather is buried at the USNA. I was a fire fighter, my dad was a fire fighter. None of us, ever think of ourselves as heros. We are doing what needs to be done & you and anyone else who has never done the job will never understand the horrors we witness on a regular basis. You are supposed to go help a child who has been violently beaten, killed, set on fire & when that call is done, you have to show up to the next one with a super great attitude. Most ppl could not handle what we see & do. You can not feel like a hero when your brothers & sisters, die in front of you and you are supposed to have their back. Last week 3 fire fighters wetn inside a burning building because they were told their were kids on the 2nd floor. They wound up getting trapped and were desperately calling for help because the fire was closing in. Their lieutenant jumped out of the 2nd story window & died while waiting for help. He was a husband, a father, a son & brother. His fellow brothers will NEVER forget that. No matter how many good deeds they do, they will instantly feel insulted by being called a hero because of that tragedy. Dakota feels the same & I honestly think for her being in a family that is so supportive of our country & service personnel, she wasn't sensitive to what he was going through or tried to really understand and help him. She is a spoiled little bitch & she is ANNOYING as fuck, just like her stupid ass mother. You may be Canadian but we are supposed to have each others back & you should def rethink & apologize for that.

@alys45706 жыл бұрын
You often judge the hell out of these people but you went way too far with your comments about Dakota. You say you understand him but in the next breath you say you now see why his wife divorced him? Please take this comment as constructive criticism and stop to think about how awful your comments were. You have absolutely no understanding of PTSD along with severe survivors guilt. Dakota repeats himself because of comments like your’s that imply “just snap out of it already” . He just wants people to understand what he went through. Can you imagine 10 of your closest friends or family being slaughtered all around you, you have a gun but you couldn’t save any of them? Now try to just snap out of it. Then Try listening to people say out of ignorance that your illness is exhausting to them . This man’s brain chemistry is forever changed in ways he can not control no matter how exhausting you find it. If you find it exhausting then imagine how exhausting it is for him to not be able to pull out of it years later..he has no choice . Yes therapy can help some of his symptoms but there is no cure for his kind of trauma. Please spend some time looking into war PTSD. There are several Afghanistan documentaries that put the viewer on the front lines. For someone who has a platform such as you and for a person who has a channel talking about mentally ill people, you owe it to viewers to stop spreading the ignorance about mental illness . There are far too many awareness programs out there for people to be this uneducated on the subject. You owe that man an apology. I can’t fathom a more cruel thing to say to a war hero ..”I understand why his wife divorced him.” , “ he is just exhausting.”......That’s below the belt. 😔

As someone who went to a private high school - save your money. Arguably it's worth it for high school, but primary? Hell no!!! You can spend that money on much greater lessons, travel, arts, theatre, you can educate them in ways beyond a classroom. Unfortunately ya know, most of these people aren't the smartest so when they see money they think "Awesome I'm gonna get a big truck/boob job!" not "how can I widen my life, my mind and my horizons? What freedom will this enable me?" (freedom that isn't staying in bed till 12 and getting a drug habit). Plenty of low income/socioeco kids make it in sports. If you have talent they'll find you (especially when you're on tv!!) you don't need a fancy private school for that

Keep giving him whatever he THINKS he wants and hes gonna end up spoiled. Once that MTV money is gone and they continue with regular jobs, hes gonna expect the same lifestyle and what about her other kids. Is Maci not allowed to spoil herself a bit? Unfortunately, Tyler is a classic example of someone who was raised to be codependent. When addiction is so prominent in your family and you watch unhealthy dynamics from a young age, you learn to mimic them. He's caught in that cycle. He wants to help, but instead, he enables and then feels angry, hurt, resentful, and trapped by his own choices and the actions of those around him. He needs to seek more help for his codependency and start telling people, "no". It's such a hard place to be, but also very common. I really hope he is able to get help because his kids are going to need a healthy example to follow in order to stop this cycle. I've lived it myself and truly hope he can overcome this for his little ones. Fighting to break the cycles in my own family has been extremely difficult work, but is worth it for my three kids to grow up in a healthy, stable environment.

Each new generation we are given the chance to break the cycle. End the hurt, so OUR children dont suffer and have to survive their childhood. It takes a parent saying Yes, this is hard. My depression was so bad I had days I could hardly get out of bed, but you do it. Because you made the choice to have that child.

I have to say that they're not just living off of the children's expense. They sacrifice their own privacy, so the entire world can enjoy watching their lives and watch their every move and decision. And you benefit as well, your entire channel is based off of this TV show. No shade, I love your channel, but keep in mind that it is probably unimaginable the pressure they have. Even more so than a movie star, there are cameras in their home.

Last season Tyler's sister was so defensive when people questioned whether she was using drugs and commenting how was trashing Tyler and Cate's house. And even Tyler defended Amber. Now the truth is out. (which we all knew all along) What she did to that house was disgusting and so disrespectful. But the worst part of it is that children were living in those conditions. Those kids need to be taken off of her and Tyler and Cate need to cease all contact with that ungrateful trainwreck.
