TWENTY ONE PILOTS frontman TYLER JOSEPH had some time to catch up with our own, Donny Fandango, before their upcoming show in St. Louis on September 10th at Enterprise Center. Tyler fills us in on recovering after his recent on-stage injury. Donny and Tyler discuss the challenges of touring with your family, maintaining creative control, and some heartfelt dad-to-dad talk.

I don’t normally cry while watching YT. THIS INTERVIEW is just so moving. Their commitment, intentionality and professionalism is UNPARALLELED. And has brought me so much joy that I could never attempt to quantify it. The quality twenty one pilots (and their creative team) delivers is monumental and quite mind blowing. I had to recently relinquish and pass the torch from Pink Floyd to TØP as Best Musical+ Artists of All Time. Which was a HUGE SHIFT for me personally. Thank you for being so authentic and bringing us this intimate side of him. Hope your daughter ROCKS the halftime and competition!! You BOTH are clearly FANTASTIC fathers! It’s so touching. I bet your kid would love to play Frederick no matter being older. Being a mom made me immensely less self centered. It was such a gift. Very optimizing. I lost my mom in 2020 and the fortitude the pilots songs AND CHARACTER have given me carried me through the worst year of my entire life. I truly didn’t understand my favorite music (PF, TØP and The Avett Brothers) until I traveled that awful bumpy road. I am so lucky to Be Alive for this very special moment in time. I don’t know what show will start at 2050 for you, but I pray it is one of mine as well.

Im a single father to a 16 year old young man. A very proud father and love hearing two dads talk and share real information. Dont know u or your son but glad to hear he is doing well and you are proud of him. Love hearing these things. Tyler seems like a proud father also and we fathers need to stick together. Having a father in the home is very important and u both should be proud of yourselves and we have to cherish these moments. they wont last forever. well wishes and all the best....., oh and Trump24 had to toss that in there 4 good measure :^) DADS UNITE . . . . :^)

Found this video a year later. Wanted to come by and say that when he talked about putting together their own shows and everything they do comes from them personally, we really feel that. I appreciate them so much for being so authentic and real with us. I've been a fan for about 10 years and their way of acting towards the clique really sets the foundation of feeling like its a small and close fanbase. No matter how many millions of fans they have, i really feel like i know them and they know me. Such a special feeling!

I loved that ending because that story is the reality of so many of the fans. (Not the meeting Tyler part but you get what I mean) No matter what we were going through their music was there for us through it all. It brings me so much joy to know that Tyler would do that kind of thing. He really cares about the fans. Great interview!!

My dad passed away on april this year. Guess what helped me trough this hard time? Yes, right tøp. I listen to these guys non stop, everyday. My dad introduced me to their music so many years ago. And I'm so thankfull for this gift he gave me. My dad loved these boys. And to know, that they really take care of us fans and want to make sure that we're all comfortable and save, gives me the strenght and the faith to go forward, no matter what life comes up next with. My daughters are huge fans too and I hope that I can bring my 7 year old girl to a concert someday. She is so sad that I went to two concerts without her because she was too young. But in germany its not easy because often they play only 3 shows and all of them too far away from where I live. But I'm looking forward and life always has a hopeful undertone so we will make it to a show together ..someday. 🥲☺️

I LOVE this interviewer! I think it was their first? interview with him that Tyler told him he was beautiful, and he said it so sweetly and shyly..he made a lifetime stan that day; I wonder sometimes if Tyler remembers that, because I just •know• the dude that is interviewing him unquestionably remembers it and probably counts it as one of the best moments in a celebrity interview that he ever! ever! had!
