Stig Anderson/Polar Music getting Frida to commit to a pop group, which was not easy, was a HUGE get! Agnetha is great, but fits the standard upper chest pop singer. Frida fits in the classically trained vocalist category. Keen ear, diaphragmatic breathing, huge range, total control of her instrument.

I still remember very well the day the LP "The Visitors" was released, November 30, 1981, the day of my 19th birthday. My best gift ever. Of course bought the album that day, in our village, with the bike there and back home full of excitement. Run to my room, set up a record player, LP on the turntable and listen. First heard every song from the A-side, flipped the disc and there it was.....the first time listening to "I let the music speak". WHAT IS THIS????? Will never forget that moment. Without listening to the other songs I must have listened to this at least 10 times. With tears in my eyes. So proud of Benny and Björn for writing this. Since then I keep saying this is my all time favorite Abba song. Watching your review brought tears to my eyes again, your reaction reminded me of what I felt 41 years ago. So proud to be Abbafan. It sounds cliche but thanks anyway Abba for the music.

A very underrated song, and one of Frida's best. Definitely a musical-type song, they've done a few of those: - Thank You For The Music - I Wonder (Departure) [also by Frida, and just as beautiful] - I'm A Marionette [that song will blow you away] Other great songs by Frida: 'Our Last Summer', 'Should I Laugh Or Cry', 'Cassandra', 'One Man One Woman', 'Me And I'. Also check out 'The Way Old Friends Do' (the version on the Super Trouper album), it's just incredible.

I needed years to understand that musically and songwriting-wise this song is a masterpiece. It's beyond pop, it's more a musical song with opera aspects. And.... By the way the choir is just ABBA singing and layering the different notes on top of one another in the studio. Also if you loved this I reckon you should check out a song by ABBA called "Soldiers" as well as "The Piper" by ABBA, and another more musical one with an awesome video is agnetha singing "thank you for the music" one of the most joyful songs out there. On another note I love Frida's voice in this and she shows such a good side of her voice in the song "Like an Angel Passing through my room" too which is just beautiful and sad a song.

Frida got more and more playful and experimental with her voice from album to album. "Team Frida all the way", "she is the better one..." There is truth in that statement. Although not a popular thing to say with some ABBA fans. But it is true and all informed ABBA fans know this, particularly those with a bit of an analytical mind. Agnetha is awesome. But she does not have Frida's diaphragmatic breathing, keen ear, control, etc... Frida is highly respected by her peers since she was in grade school. Her resume as a child and into early adulthood is impressive. Her stellar reputation was built on the stages. A professional working vocalist entertainer known for her complex vocal standards, particularly loved jazz and the improvisation that is part of jazz. - early grade school teachers identified her keen ear (perfect pitch) and control. - Grandma sung Norwegian and Swedish folk songs to baby, toddler, child Frida. Frida responded to all those notes/sounds and her brain did the wiring. Result is her impeccable ear. Think of a young child learning a foreign language vs an adult. Very young children can pick-up foreign languages and proper accent very fast compared to older children and adults. This happened with Frida regarding her keen ear. Not just her accurate pitch, but her note shaping, control and her chameleon like vocal versatility. - age 7. Dedicated herself to become a great vocalist and earn her own way in life. - became the schools singer/entertainer and sung in church choir - she was taken seriously by her peers. She was the real deal. Not a little girl just wanting to sing, but to actually develop her talent. - swept all the vocal talent hunts into adulthood, too include National Vocalist of the Year, 1964 and National Best vocalist win in 1967 - her big break into TV, EMI, association with top Swedish music talents, etc... It was rare when she did not finish first in talent hunts. - 1956-1958, too young to turn pro she hit the stages performing in charity events. - 1958, age 13, still 3 years too young to turn pro, she was hired anyway to front bands and orchestra's. She was earning her own way in life at age 13. - 60/61 joined large big band/orchestra. Met her future husband Ragnar. Married 1964. Two children -- 1963 (Hans) & 1967 (Lisa-Lotte, (67-98 RIP). Separated 1968. Divorced final 1970, same day her grandmother died. - 1963-66: left big band orchestra and formed Anni-Frid Four / Anni-Frid & Gunnar Trio. 1964, National Vocalist of the Year 1967, National Best vocalist win. 1969: met Benny. Started to sing less sophisticated genres by singing pop songs, like 'Peter Pan'. Much less complex, but pop songs got her on the charts. Pop songs appeal to the masses. Frida's style, that most ABBA fans eventually pickup on many of her vocal centric leads, is she sings in a classical way. 1972: Stig signed Frida to solo Polar Music contract, leaving EMI for Polar Music solo contract. Frida was very reluctant to join a group and sing pop songs, but once she agreed to re-jion Benny, Bjorn and Agnetha along with the rest, she was all in. A vocal centric genre vocalist turned pop singer. A comedown from more challenging genres, but pop more lucrative. Stig eventually named them ABBA. Remember, the boss was Stikkan 'Stig' Anderson, not Benny and Bjorn. Stig also wrote most of ABBA's early lyrics, too include song titles. 'Waterloo' being a great example of Stig's instincts with the english speaking world and his understanding using 'Waterloo' as metaphor in a failed relationship. Polar Music/ABBA Team: Stikkan 'Stig' Anderson Gorel Johnsen (Hanser. 1980) Anni-Frid Lyngstad Benny Andersson Bjorn Ulverus Agnetha Falkskog Rutger Gunnarsson Michael B Tretow ABBA/Polar Music loyal and top tier studio and touring musicians.

Slow, soft and delicate songs are the hardest to sing. The producer(s) of Mama Mia movies on the special features DVD talked about the actors singing ABBA's songs.... The loud and fast ones were the easiest. The slow, soft, delicate ones were the hardest because they are more technical. The producer mentioned 'I Have A Dream' as being very difficult to sing because of voice breaking, lack of air support, etc. The song, 'I Let The Music Speak' is very technical. Difficult to sing. Example: There is a phrase that is more than 20 seconds without an inhale. A constant exhale of more than 20 seconds while changing pitches, note shaping, etc... If you can't sing that without an inhale, it would ruin that entire phrase.

OK guys 💖 Marissa you have to listen to "Andante Andante, and then" I Wonder" (Departure) both lead vocals by Frida🤗👍 For personal reasons "I Wonder" (Departure) is very close to my heart, it was an album track from ABBA "The Album" that accompanies ABBA "The Movie🎥.... YES they made a movie, its based on their Australian Tour in 1977, its a bit cheesey but their live concert performances are out of this world 🌎 Hope you are both keeping well 🤗 TEAM FRIDA 👑💖🎉✨ Hi Tyler not forgotten you💘 🇬🇧💖😀

Frida’s best for me will always be Fernando. So evocative. But this is her best operatic-wise along with TDBYC. ISHFIY is also so tender. I’m still more Team Agnetha but only by a very small margin. The two together are ridiculously superhuman.

ABBA's biggest commercial successful album: Arrival ABBA's best album: Most list four albums as their best. In no particular order. - The Visitors - Super Trouper - The Album - Arrival The Visitors is certainly their darkest. With Super Trouper starting the dark period. Super Trouper: Agnetha & Bjorn, no longer a couple The Visitors: Frida & Benny, no longer a couple. Arrival is the album and era, with Fernando (non-album single) is what put ABBA into orbit.. HUGELY successful! Before Arrival, ABBA had three songs that had huge intl success: Waterloo, SOS, Mamma Mia They regional success with several others. But it was the Arrival/Fernando era that launched ABBA into orbit. The four big songs of the Arrival/Fernando era: 1. Fernando 2. Dancing Queen 3. Money Money Money 4. Knowing Me, Knowing You
