Can't go wrong with Aputure's ecosystem! The 300d mark ii has been our workhorse for quite some time now. With all the attachments available for it, it's like the swiss army knife of lighting! Who knew a Bowens mount could go beyond the photography world? So handy!

I am going to slowly invest in the Aputure Ecosystem. My train of thought is: 2x 300D's, 2x 60X's, 1x 600D, 1x Nova. What do you think about that list? Would you consider the 120D as a missing piece or is it generally not really needed if you have the others?
@MomentMediaSW3 жыл бұрын
For context, i own a video production company, working in commercials, narrative and music videos. And also, i forgot the Aputure MC kit with 12 lights.
@TylerEdwards3 жыл бұрын
That is definitely a great kit! I’d say the 120 isn’t necessary with that lineup.

Great video. Have you had any color issues with mixing the Daylight only lights with the x-series light? I’ve heard color issues will occur mixing the two, especially if you’re trying to match temp on them. Any thoughts? Thanks

Great video! Thanks for breaking down the line of lights and I appreciate the comparison to old school lights. I bought a two pack of 120D's last year coming over from some 1k Lowel Pro tungsten soft boxes. I love LED lights, but the 120D's were no where close to the output I had. We started doing a lot more on location shooting and I noticed the 120D's can't keep up with like our churches huge lobby windows. Do you think I should budget next year for a 300Dii or just go full in on a 600D?
@TylerEdwards3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Definitely go for the 600D Pro. You’ll never complain about having too much output 😎

Hey Tyler, I just picked up a Senheiser MKE 600. I looked at the rode NTG5 but it didn't quite meet my budget and im very sad about not getting it. I have a BMPCC6k and was wondering how the Senheiser does with the BMPCC pre-amps?
@reelweaver Жыл бұрын
Hey Tyler, thank you for you amazing review. I just got the 200x and 300x. I am quite happy how well the 200x is performing how ever its so close to the 300x that (besides the fact of longer cable, battery mount, carry bag, remote and dmx control) its really as good as the 300x. Its maybe. maybe a more homogen light that creats better shadows (i recognized this also) but: I m about to give the 300x back and get a 300d 2 instead. The Idea was to have diversity in a strong and a stronger bi color light, not one in well budget the other in studio built quality. Which is nice, but the 300d 2 is also like this. So bascially my issue is, that I don't wanne do a mistake. Like do I really need that extra power? I had one SL 150w Neewer before. That was always limiting me. Now I have the little brighter (almost silent) 200x which questions me if maybe anyways both wont run at full power. So maybe its more clever to have two bi color 200w and 300w instead of 200w bi and 300w day. Like I wanne become more precise in terms of colorcorrection....but than I think maybe its better to have the availabilty of that extra output of the 300d II. Issue: Two Amaran 200x are not possible since I am so happy to even got one :D and I need the Lights for projects immediatly so just the option: 300x vs 300d 2 working to gether with 200x. Thank you so much for your time and I would highly appreciate your thoughts on this. Sometimes you just need expericence to qualify the value. Like DMX wouldnt be a value for me. Noise strongly is, precision also. :)
@TylerEdwards Жыл бұрын
Extra output for sure! I use my daylight fixtures way more than my bi-color fixtures. 300d would be my vote. If your budget allows, the non pro 600d would be even better

@@TylerEdwards thank you so much for your quick reply. Will change it!
@reelweaver Жыл бұрын
@@TylerEdwards Feedback: I changed it and I am impressed. The 300D 2 is 40-50% brighter than the 300x. I already miss that carbon features on the power station (honestly not kidding) but everything else is nearly the same just it has 40% more power (I think thats why its also not that smooth dimmable, which you can change whith the dimming curve to make it smoother but I didnt needed that at 1-10% on the 300X) But thats all! Like these are very much just figures. Do I need that smooooth dimmable feature? Or is smooth enough? For sure it doesnt count. The biggest minus is the missing Bi color Feature. but well if thats the compromise for 40% more power I will always go for the 300d II. Big thank you for your Video and Knwoledge. Would probably have struggled or didnt know the D2 is so much stronger. My Bi Color Solution: I got the Aputure Dome 2 which has a Gel Filter. I will use some Gel filters to push the Light down to 3200K if needed and adjust the bi color to this. This will take of maybe 20-40% of the power, but in all other cases I have more benefits. Did I say thank you? Thank you!!

Heck yea. As I mentioned I just got mine and love it. Also just got the 300dii but wondering if I should swap for the 300x. I do have 4 pavo tubes 30c so I guess my color is covered. Maybe I’ll keep the 300dii. Anyway loving your videos
@TylerEdwards3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! And ya the nova is awesome. I picked up the 300DII first and then got a 300X. I definitely like having the higher output and still think it was a better choice to get that first. But now with the 600D, now I just want another 600D hahaha

Hey Tyler great content as always! Quick question I’m in the market for a light and I’m leaning towards aputure system . I will be doing onsite interviews and I’m guessing a 120d ii would be perfect. Or should I grab the 300dii to overpower possible lights from a window ? I appreciate your time and response

300DII definitely if you can stretch your budget a little more!
