I am a legally blind female adult lady in my late 50s with limited vision and I use a white cane in my Alberta country and city.I can go up an escalator but not down it and I almost fell down it in the past and a lady caught me just in time.I use the elevator in the mall.I am experienced with my white cane and I have had o&m instructor lessons with the cnib over many years since I was 19 years old and whenever I move to a new area that I have never lived in an area in a house then I get more 0&m instructor training lessons until I am comfortable and know the many routes and buses

Very good Jarrett, it might be helpful if you demonstrate the proper grip on the cane; also do you teach holding on to the handrail. Also, many times escalators are in shopping areas. Personally, I recommend that a person's hands are free of bags and other items that might distract them.

This would definitely help me out a lot but sometimes there are people that want to question someone on their life. Like when they’re visually impaired. People always want to question you and how much you can see. I grew up visually impaired and I honestly feel like people shouldn’t be questioning me on it. When I was younger I could see a lot but I struggled a lot. Instead of my vision being 20/40 in both eyes, I had my right eye that is 20/40 and my left eye is 20/60. So what that means is, what someone could see from 40 ft. away in my right eye, I would have to be 20 feet away for me to see it. In my left eye I am 20/60, so what that means is what someone can see from 60 ft away I would have to be 20 feet away from what I’m looking at.

i recently got a cane because of my limited visual field and im watching these videos on o&m training to help navigate better. i want to stop staring at my feet while im walking, and finally look ahead of me and the scenery i am missing out on because ive been so focused on making sure i dont trip and fall! 🥰

@@angelsparanormal i know how that feels. I've been struggling with trusting my cane since I'm so used to looking down

This should help a lot of visually impaired and blind people.
