That skinny rod is what activates the drum brakes it has an adjuster on the end, the aluminum arm is the brake stay arm; it stops the hub from spinning.

On the CR 'S front brake is a. master Cylinder protector to keep it from being damaged. My 87 CR 250 came with one.

Tell your friend with the rmz450 stop giving the bike throttle when he tries to start the bike. Rookie mistake flooding the bike. Also he might want to check his valves. If a 4 stroke need gas to start something is wrong with the bike.

the rear brake is called a drum brake lol. Bikes didn't come out with disk brakes until 1986
