I was homeless at one point in my life, and I have to agree with some of the people that say that the missions are dirty and unsafe. That was my experience as well. I ended camping out by a railroad track where there wasn't any homeless around. Eventually I got a job, saved up my money & moved on. During that time I rented some space at a storage unit, so all of my stuff was somewhere more secure. Took my showers at a gym, and on my days off I avoided any location where the homeless would hang out. There is a category of homeless people that maintain a cleaner appearance & actually blend into society rather well. Unless you spotted them leaving their camp, you probably never guessed..

@ZeriocTheTank11 ай бұрын
@krystopher3755 I don't exactly know what to share. I wasn't on drugs, so I didn't have an addiction story & like I mentioned I avoided the homeless for the most part. Although my time at the shelter meant that some of them knew me. What I'll say is pay attention to some of the people that you notice that are regulars are Starbucks, Whole Foods or any location with wifi that someone can stay for a long period of time as long as they're a customer. There might be a "high class" homeless person there. I became homeless because I was lazy, lost my job & was too lazy to look for another job. I was more interested in playing video games or just not being responsible at all. Eventually I was forced to be responsible. I'll admit that I even bought a laptop while homeless just so I could play some video games on my days off while homeless. Some people just assumed I was working on my laptop, but if you looked at my screen (and I didn't alt tab out of the game) you'd see the truth.

Definitely. Everyone has their reasons. The irony You'd be hard pressed to find a homeless person who is not pro socialism/communism, which historically has been nothing but systematic oppression all over the world. That's probably because there is only up from down. Poor people also dont sympathize for people who worked hard for their wealth. Many are also on drugs and not thinking right and contradict themselves constantly. It's amazing how "right wing" has become a negative thing in their world. Ie.. God, capitalism, freedom, free speech, secure borders, ect. Also, black people are systematically being conditioned to believe everything negative that happens to them is because they are black. They blame everything on a white system. They don't lock black people up longer. They lock repeat offenders up longer and poor people who can't get a decent lawyer. The police don't risk their lives for you because your black. It's because you're homeless and on drugs and don't even value your own life. The system isn't racist. It's classist

I think it all stems from America being about freedom. It's engrained into our culture, even if we never really had true freedom. Now you add in the economic issues, broken families, disconnected society, and a narrative about the government and police becoming militaristic and reducing freedoms... well that's how you end up in this situation. There is no helping them because staff have seen them dozens of times and gave them help but they don't actually want to improve their situation and just use it as a opportunity to get free food, free place to stay, and stay out of the colder times of the year. The only people the doctors/etc cared about were the one's who were actively trying to get better but relapsing. One of the doctors casually told me he wouldn't care if some of those people just died cause they're just wasting their time and all the other providers in the dictation room agreed with him pretty candidly. Now they would be super professional in front of druggys faces but behind the scenes docs are hyper critical. Just from what I've witnessed at a large ER while being a student provider.

I mean if you watched the whole vid, idk if police are equipped to help drug users. All the crime is connected to desperation of living situations. Like the lady they showed with kids, 3 jobs, and still homeless. She didn't take drugs and that was suprising. It's hard to not do drugs when your reality is bleak and has no "light at the end of the tunnel" Another guy mentioned as well and backed by stats, that you're closer to a homeless persons in terms of wealth than you are to being an upper class even as an average citizen. I think compassion is needed and proper mental health and medical support. How is incarcerating a vulnerable population helping them? Esp if statistics report high recidivism and relapse after prison. I believe a more mental health and educational support can go a long way. And police are not equipped nor trained to handle that situation nor should they. Most likely can with support of massive amounts of social workers, and mental health professionals. But as a nation (USA) we need to understand that punitive measures do very little against crime.

But like Ron Paul says with the U.S. killing hundreds and thousands of civilians overtime since with a drone to take out a target they kill civilians it’s like how do you know you’re not creating more terrorists? From the wests perspectives they’re terrorists, but from their perspectives they’re the new George Washington so to speak wanting tyranny to leave. George Washington actually though was bad. The revolutionary war wasn’t over taxes as it’s taught here. I’d love to be a far away subject of the king of England paying a paltry 1.5% in taxes and have zero representation in government then to pay 40-70% or whatever in taxes with the mere illusion that I have representation in government. You need to look up Neil mcoyward or something. He makes England not look so good economically. Big banks are part of the problem as credit expansion and low interest rates create asset inflation which is good for those that work in big banks or use lots of debt but it doesn’t benefit most of the rest of society. But I will say the private central Bank of England was honest saying their high inflation was going to hurt. I think that was a couple years ago but still shocking he was honest. You need to watch the video web of Britain or something. It’s how the city of London inside of London is a distinct entity. It’s shocking how they do banking their but then can claim those deals were done offshore so not subject to UK law. Honestly it explains a lot. After the U.S. told the Uk to let Egypt keep the Suez Canal England with capital controls basically morphed or changed and retained control of its former colonies by their banking empire using U.S. dollars and created the euro dollar market basically. Two banks could write loans to each other in U.S. dollars having zero collateral or zero U.S. bonds and then instantly have millions of U.S. dollars they created on paper to lend out. They made a ton of money for decades and then after 1971 sometime I heard US bonds were used as collateral. But ya big banks literally aren’t morally great as they create inflation but then always bailed out as big banks are shareholders of privately owned central banks. The federal reserve for instance is privately owned and pays a 6% dividend. But another Uk channel I watched did make it seem the Uk didn’t care about their soldiers. Because of a lack of diversity parts of the RAF weren’t hiring or understaffed and white people literally sued and won against the UK military that the military was racist as it is. White people weren’t hired or promoted because of diversity laws so it’s like finally some lawsuits showed the government is racist in its laws.

@@Notfunnysam Yeah cause dying of a drug overdose cause a crowd of over-active cop haters won't clear the scene for paramedics to check you out shows so much fault with the police. You ever consider that half the shit you protest against you directly cause? Like did you know its an actual measured, observed phenomenon that the more you protest against something the more strongly it becomes rooted and the more prevalent it becomes. And in this scenario, the people who killed George Floyd and sparked all this bullshit were (in the order of blame): George Floyd His drug dealer who sold him a fentanyl laced speedball And the crowd of cop-haters who decided before anything had happened that the police were racist and they needed to protect the poor black man (cause you know, black people are incapable of protecting themselves so white people like you have to do it for them, right?) They chose to do this by forming a tight perimeter, aggressively screaming at and arguing with officers preventing them from clearing the scene. The lack of cleared and safe scene is literally the reason that the paramedics nearby testified as to why they did not move in when Chauvin called in to request medical attention for Floyd. So yeah, everything this video references, everything that sparked the initial events and the protests is all based off bullshit that none of y'all ever educated yourselves on. And tragically if y'all had been able to control your fucking emotions when Floyd was on the ground and give them some space that the paramedics probably woulda saved his life or done a helluva job trying.

So I've seen it bad in Philadelphia, at a place called Kensington. Only spent time passing through, and it is like the apocalypse. I destroyed my liver by drinking wine, but when covid hit I switched to Vodka. Then when I went to quit I was told I had days to live. This was May. Kidneys failed due to the liver in September. Anyway so I'm no saint. So I had an orientation with a doctor who told me most of the organs now come from Fentynal OD. Since opiates don't destroy the organs. I had to sign papers saying will I accept organs from someone who did drugs. (They test it. Under 1% chance to get a transmittal disease, and an even lower one to get one of the ones that isn't treatable.) Anyway that shook me. Thought I would get one from an accident or something. I see addicts walking now, and I'm like damn. One of these lost people is going to give me a chance to live. (If I live to have a ch!nice at it. Doctors say it is a miracle i just celebrated an other year. 2022, I was in the hospital for 8 out of 12 months, and 85 pounds at one point. Detoxing nearly killed me.) Sorry for digressing. Either way I'm liberal, but those politicians are idiots. Those who all cops are just as bad. Decriminilzing drugs worked since they had a huge social net that included mental health. Without that net, law enforcement, rules, and support? You just create a society of chaos. Locking everyone up doesn't work. Either does this, clearly.

I’m confused. The CHOP guy at 30:00 is blaming EMS for not coming in to pick up the wounded person and take them to a hospital. Could they not have put that person in a vehicle themselves and transported them out of that zone to get help rather than waste time trying to talk EMS into moving in? Seems like their inaction was just as much to blame as the inaction of EMS.

I remember being homeless in San Diego and being scared out of my mind because I had pets. Found another homeless guy at church who had built a fortress inside bushes beside the freeway. The only thing we feared were cops who would write homeless people sleeping in the bushes tickets for thousands of dollars. But beside that, after a while I really felt okay, even happy and I wasn't afraid of anybody or anything. I had no trouble striking up a conversation with complete strangers. I went to a social security building to get help though (I had forgotten I had a bunch of throwing knives in my backpack, but no one bothered checking it), and a wonderful lady told me about a shelter to work program. I got 7 or 8 other people into the program when I went in. It was nice having a whole group of people I had made friends with in the same place.

Relevant fact: Seattle is over 3x as rich from tax dollars as compared to 2008. The city's problems are way way larger. Where is this money going and why isn't the city council appropriately allocating funds.

@@devonmarr9872 so you'd rather they add toll booths on the roads and charge you for using their road like they do in Florida? You have to pay one way or another. Your choice is not using the roads if you don't want to pay for using them. Just one example of many. Do you want water and electricity? Someone has to pay for the pipes and cables, that's you who uses it... don't want to pay taxes on those things? Don't use them. Don't like taxes? Go join those homeless who don't pay taxes, your choice.
