The stadium capacity was 100k SEATED, it was more like 200k.
@zeeoxАй бұрын
@@abergreg - it wasn't anywhere near that. The old Wembley at that time had about a 100,000 capacity for footie, sure, but that was BEFORE conversion to being an all-seater in 1990. That (then) took it down to 82,000 (or possibly 76,000 minus the gantry, and depending on your source). Anyway, further, photos suggest that the quarter or so of the bowl that was cut off by the Live Aid stage included end terracing. This meant that most of the people in attendance in the stands were likely also only ("officially") seated, which brings the maximum crowd potential down even further. It is certainly possible that many more people packed onto the pitch itself facing the stage directly, and so, the attendance could have still exceeded the official tickets sold figure of 72,000... but not by much. At the very most it could have been maybe 10-20,000 more, perhaps. (And so, little more than how many can get into the modern ground today for a sold-out England game.)

Tyler…. Hats off to you sir. I have been watching some of your videos and it’s amazing that you are immersing yourself in other countries’ culture and music. Freddie didn’t need auto-tune. He was THE most amazing singer. Old school bands never needed auto-tune. It was called talent. Love your videos sir. Please keep going 🤘🏻

Watch the 'Green Day' concert, they played Queen before starting the show to get the audience in the mood and everyone sang along.

Please watch the whole 21 minutes that Queen performed at Live Aid. And then watch Queen perform 'Somebody to Love' live performance 1981 in Montreal. That will blow your socks off!

Freddie had a chest infection at the time and was advised by his doctor not to perform!! This is Freddie at 90%!!! I have had the honour of seeing Queen live 3 times...they were the best live band EVER!!! Watch the whole set..incredible!!! xxxxxx

Freddie Mercury was told not to sing that day by his doctor as he was sick but he did anyway. Plus if you watch the whole 21 mins you will see how lady ga ga chose her name after her fave queen song radio ga ga

Each act had just 20 minutes for their set which included 17 minutes playing time, and Queen chose to use it to do a medley of some of their most popular and/or new songs, packing in the entertainment. It really works best seen as a whole, as others here have said. With a worldwide audience of billions via live satellite links, Freddie was in his element and the whole band was humming. They were the standout performance of the day, despite being a late booking and so not appearing on the publicity material. They stole the show! Other stand-out live performances: Somebody to Love - Montreal, 1981(?) White Queen - Hammersmith Odeon, 1975 You Take My breath Away, Hyde Park, 1976

You know what? Just watch the whole set, it gets more and more amazing. Better still, do a whole series of Queen's live performances, they are always awesome.

I saw him at Wembley and at Nebworth. Best I’ve ever seen by a country mile. Still brings the hairs on my arms up.

I watched a documentary about Freddies last few days. Brian may was talking about that song saying Freddie was having troubles with the high notes. Brian said leave it for today and we will try again tomorrow. Freddie grabbed a shot of vodka looked Brian in the eye a said "ill fucking do it darling" then proceeded to absolutely nail it.

You really need to watch his full 22 minute performance. I was there that day. A day I'll never forget. Freddie wasn't just a singer, he was a performer. You've missed out on that by not watching his whole performance. It was great to see him come back on stage later that evening. I've still got my Live Aid ticket today all nicely laminated and safely locked up in a safe.

The whole Queen Live Aid 1985 set is fantastic. Freddy was one of the best (if not the best) frontman and vocalist ever. Freddy was incredible

Most bands and artists from the 1960s to the 1990s could perform like this, they were artists and real musicians. You should investigate more live shows, especially British Bands, from that era, even late in their careers. There are many on YT. Try Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues as a starter, or Procul Harum - A whiter Shade of Pale (sung by Gary Brooker) - live in Denmark, or of course any Rolling Stones performances. Brian May built his own guitar with his dad when he was 14, he also has a doctorate in Astrophysics.

So this is part of a Medley of a number of their songs, part of the art of live performances is making changes to the albums releases many people go to see this as you feel it to be a unique experience, it was not uncommon for artists to make changes each night of a performance. This lso makes sense because each venue has different acoustics and the performers and crowd can have different vibes. there are still bands out there that dont use autotune unless to produce effects rather than voice correction

You really should react to the Full Set, not just 2 clips. It's quite an experience, and likely to include some major hits that you *haven't* heard before, like Radio Ga Ga, and Hammer To Fall.
