Very very true. Tyler, a huge issue I’ve seen is people using the wrong gear ratio reels. They want to use a high speed reel like a 7 or 8 speed and even reeling “slow” is still not slow enough. I’ve recommended a slower reel to people before, like a 6 speed. If you don’t get it and can’t do it, you’re not going to succeed with a high speed reel...not like you could be. Obviously this applies to certain techniques and is in no way, shape or form describing all set ups and all baits.

Is water clarity a big factor as well? Murkier water with less clarity I’d imagine working the bait slower would yield more results?
@TylersReelFishing3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you for sure want to go slower in dirtier water during this time of the year
@vernervanschalkwyk22803 жыл бұрын
I cannot agree with you more. Here in South Africa you HAVE to fish slowly even when fishing a topwater bait. I find your latest videos even better than the already good first ones. Patience is your best friend on the water. Tight lines brothers and stay safe.

Let me set the stage so you have some backstory to my question... So Im fishing the other day and bass forecast told me it was a 7.0 day and the fish were in the flats/spawn areas. So I was on one half of the lake (bank fishing btw) and i was moving and throwing and got zero bites for 3 hours. Sure enough a local shows up and says his buddy caught 3 LM bass this morning on the complete opposite side of the lake. So I went over to the other side and caught 2 fish within 30 minutes. So 3 hours of nothing to high activity. So my question is how do you know where to start without knowing too much about the lake to begin with? How do you just know where the fish are especially when bank fishing? Thank you
@TylersReelFishing3 жыл бұрын
It’s all about experience and time on the water. There’s really no general tips that I can give about fishing new bodies of water and finding success on them. The bassforecast app will definitely help point you in the right direction, but the only reason why I am good at finding fish on new bodies of water, is because I consistently fish new bodies of water

Hey Tyler, I have been fishing for a couple years now. I only have one rod set up, its an arbu Vengeance rod with a Pfluger Supreme XT spinning reel. It's been working well for me, but I do believe you when you say I shouldn't be fishing a heavy jig on my spinning rod (I am a horse trainer not a fisherman (trying to be a fisherman too)). I watched the video you posted for beginner anglers (the bare minimum you need), the casting set up you have listed is sold out on Tackle Wearhouse. I was wondering if there was a different casting rod and reel combo you could recommend that is affordable for a high school senior who is saving up for college. Thank you for your videos! They are absolutley wonderful, I am super glad I came across this channel. Keep doing what your doing, you're blessing to anglers all around.

So when I fish I leave my bait stay in one spot for 1 minute until I jig. Is that too slow?
@TylersReelFishing3 жыл бұрын
Yes that is far too slow. The most I'd let a bait sit for on the bottom is 7-8 seconds
