Making Custom Pasta Flavors In A Pasta Making Machine

Hello and welcome to another video!
Today we’re gonna be making our own custom pasta noodles, but instead of using water in the dough, we’ll be using the most bizarre liquids we could think of (orange juice, heavy cream/Oreo cookies and pickle juice) to make them custom flavored! Once they're cooked up, we’re going to be testing out all of these cursed creations to see which ones actually work and which ones are absolutely heinous.

About what Saf said in the beginning about authentic Italian pasta by an authentic Italian: in Italy we actually have both “pasta all’uovo” which is the one with just flour and egg and it stays a dough because it’s meant to be eaten as soon as you make it for obvious reasons, then there’s pasta made with just flour and water (the one you buy in the bags at the supermarket which is firm usually) both traditional :)

As someone who has home canned cucumbers into pickles, I could literally smell that hot pickle juice boiling! It kinda made my mouth water and it also made me dizzy at the same time! My pickles turned out great though, after sitting for 6 months. (I did whole cucumbers and also sliced) They were brought out as part of our Thankgiving meal.

@@stargirl7646 I have not made it myself, but recipes state to use low to medium heat and stir to not have the milk burn. it shouldnt curdle from boiling.

​​@@stargirl7646 No it does not. I grew up eating a savory version that uses evaporated milk (sometimes with regular milk), butter (or margarine, like us poor folks use), salt and pepper, and using elbow macaroni.

@@stargirl7646 You can try the version my family uses, which is just using left over boiled pasta (usually elbow). Put some milk to simmer like you're heating it up for hot chocolate and just add the cooked noodles and sugar. We also add a bit of vanilla. Grandpa goes beyond and adds condensed milk and cinnamon on top but that's too sweet for my tastes lol

@@englishatheart This comment literally made me realise that maybe that isn't a common recipe globally?? I eat that ALL the time, basically like creamed macaroni and it's been one of my fav foods since I was a kid. My mum has always just boiled the macaroni in a tiny bit of water first (just covering the pasta), followed by regular milk once the water has been soaked up/evaporated. Then it's just boiled in the milk (+ salt and pepper) until the macaroni is done.

Most traditional pasta's use eggs, but many don't. Water-based pastas usually use a more flavorful flour to make up for the lack of egg, but it is not unheard of to make pasta using just flour and water.

If you decide to make weird pasta again I recommend concentrating the liquid before adding it into the machine. Now you could boil out the liquid OR you could freeze dry it, a much more exciting route.

I think the pickle pasta would’ve been good with some thing like chopped egg and thousand island dressing and maybe some chopped ham kind of like what would be in a salad. For the orange juice and the pickle one, I was constantly nervous when Tyler was leaning over the pot when it was boiling, because citrus steam and vinegar steam HURTS to breath in and to get in your eyes. But I absolutely love Saf and Tyler's interactions. My favorite would probably be the breakfast one, but I haven't actually tried them myself.
