If you have tried the GAN 12 and the Tornado V3, which one is your favourite? (⇩Let me know⇩)

I have a Gan 12 maglev and my friend has a tornado v3 and I prefer Gan on this
@yourface48969 ай бұрын
i had both cube and the reason i say HAD is because they both broke, the screw like plastic holding the tornado together snaped and sometimes the core stem will also snap. the gan 12 also broke in a way that is too difficult to explain lol
@pandahhh91159 ай бұрын
I have both, I got cube heads deluxe v2 and I gave it to a friend, but have a pioneer also, I have a 12 setup myself, that I angstromed up, I like the 12 more and it has been my main for almost a year
@Jesus.Number.19 ай бұрын
I have both the tornado feels like fast and snappy and the gan feels more blocky and like sandy(I prefer the feel of the fan)
@alisyed2949 ай бұрын
I have both, and while the GAN 12 is growing on me the more I use it, I still prefer the tornado. The tornado feels even more premium and the turns are buttery smooth once you’ve lubed it properly. The GAN 12 has much better auto-alignment so I’ll give it that. They both corner cut okay, but not as good as Moyu’s recent cubes. In general, you can’t go wrong with either. If I got used to them I could easily main either one, though for now I’ll be sticking with the super weilong 20 magnet or wrm v9 20 magnet edition.

Theyre both excellent cubes. Agreed, it depends on what you want as to which will suit you better but with setup tailored to you, rather than someone else, either will get you fantastic times

Yeah of course, if I set these up more to my liking, I would perform better on them.

A beginner question: On GAN 12 manual the top layer, with visible numbers, adjusts the center travel and the bottom one (the trifork one) adjusts the tension. You seem to explain and set these the other way around. Am I missing something?
@ohhi6662 ай бұрын
top numbers is screw depth (center travel) and bottom thing is the tension

It is interesting that the Gan 12 continues to be used by so many cubers, I think Gan have just made mistakes with edge magnets and all the other extras, the simple ball core with just corner-core magnets works better.
@UK_Cuber9 ай бұрын
Yeah, it seems like they chose the wrong direction with the 'innovation' they took. I hope that they begin to understand what cubers actually want with their next cubes.

I know right both cubes are flagships and turn amazingly just depends on your turning style
@RB-pp5tv2 ай бұрын
Exactly right about Gan's obsession with weight reduction. Their cubes feel so hollow, dry, and cheap when they are turned. They can learn something from the design of the Guhong Pro M, which has such a nice feel. For performance, I believe that there is a relation between the mass of the turning finger, it's power, and the weight of the layer being turned, when considering the rotational speed and control achievable. IMO, the lightest weight is not the optimal one for best performance. The distribution of the weight in the pieces (esp the distance of the centre of mass of the pieces from the core) also has something to do with it. I think the next advance will come from balancing the mass of the pieces in a layer (like wheel alignment). Additional weight may have to be added at the points that the finger hit the layer to make it turn crisply with as little motion and force as possible. Just reducing weight is too simplistic an approach, IMO.

I’m using a Gan 12 as my main but I’m thinking about using a tv3, the Gan 12 feels clunky and scratchy when turning, when I used a tv3 it felt way smoother

@UK_Cuber9 ай бұрын
Oh, thank you for that! I didn't realise!
@alisyed2949 ай бұрын
Yeah he has the flagship edition instead of pioneer, but they’re very similar (only differences being springs vs maglev). Lots of pro speedcubers say they even prefer the springs instead of maglev on this occasion, because for them the pioneer is a bit too fast and therefore less controllable. I have the UV coated pioneer though and in my opinion it’s perfect. But if anyone’s reading this, you can save yourself a bit of money and just get the flagship, following Max’s advice.

I must be in the minority of cubers then. I actually really like gan's feather weights. I have a bunch of other moyus, but even though my gan 11 has subpar performance compared to the rest, i still use it because its light
@UK_Cuber9 ай бұрын
Interesting. Personally I feel like the light weight contributes massively to a lack of control (especially when the cube is set up to be more corner-cutting orientated). Would love to here what you think!
@tryhardfighter18339 ай бұрын
@@UK_Cuber I've actually owned the 12. I feel the lack of control stems more from other factors than weight. As for me, a heavy but fast cube has more monentum, leading to overshoots as the magnets can't stop the spinning. But for gancubes, its a combo of antistick pattern, smooth plastic, maglev, and non clicky magnets that make it overshoot a lot. And ofc, your vids are amazing bruv. Keep it up
