My A1C is 5.4% One advice that truly helps is to avoid breakfast highs in morning is to eat low to zero carb for breakfast . Why are you doing oats? Its high high GI, Plus most of us are insulin sensitive in mornings. Honestly the yo-yo is not worth it. You can can have carbs in the other 1-2 meals. Honestly it works greatly cutting it off in mornings For breakfast go for eggs, sausages, avocado, mushrooms, spinach sauté, smoked salmon, cheese, cucumber slices, chia puddings (with almond or coconut milk) etc … most of us are insulin sensitive in morning. If you like bread, very simple have an almond flour wrap or almond flour toast (easy to make, plus available to buy). I have the almond flour bread with eggs, fritta, peanut butter, cheese cold cuts , turkey, avo smash with feta cheese, tomato and burrata ..etc so many options I’d rather not waste time carb estimating and correcting in morning while dealing with carb sensitivity. You will also have better mood starting the day with more stable BG and less fluctuations For lunch, I have protein with veg sauté or veg oven roasted or salad, or almond flour cheese toastie or almond flour wrap sandwich. I have higher carbs on my third dinner meal if I feel it (I choose one high carb option: potato, pasta, Chocolate or biscuits) For snacks, I have veg sticks, hommus, mixed nuts, yogurt with berries or kiwi or strawberries, dark chocolate cubes .. rarely some kind of protein bar … Ofocurse I have a cheat meal or snack but I try to limit it to few times a month max To avoid highs in morning, I tested reducing carbs in dinner verses dinner timing . It turns out timing is what makes a big difference , try to stop eating by 7/8pm - 9/10 max if I up late and woke late Honestly you can have lower A1C EASILY no fuss and no worry. Try it for yourself, test 1-2 weeks please .. hope it helps

Poor Becky, made me sad. 😢I'm a t:slim user and quite honestly I hate it w/ every fiber of my being too (I've had some terrifying lows). But, to be fair, it's my first pump and going from a different insulin approach after decades of getting by w/ my ad-hoc MDI system of finger pricks and minor corrections, it's just gonna take time to adjust. And based on what I read it's dramatically better than the other ones so I'd prob hate the others even more! The t:slim has finally unlocked something I could NEVER, NEVER do w/ lantus/novolog MDI: weight loss. I've already lost about 20+ pounds over the past few months and if it allows me to attain something approaching a decent physique after all these years of being overweight, it will have all been worth it. Just happy that you're going to get another option and I can't wait to see what tricks you're going to show us w/ the t:slim. And remember, you're never truly alone in this struggle as long as you've got this channel, love! 🤗

Sending loads of strength and positive news. I wanted to say don’t be put off by tubes. I am on Medtronic 780 and believe me I forget the tubes all together. It’s a great pump and unless o go nuts with my food it is very reliable.

I’ve been on the tandem for 7 months now and I can tell you unequivocally in my case that the best feature is the sleep activity. Pretty much every night goes smoothly, waking up with 100-120 mg/dl BS. When you turn sleep on it has very aggressive basal rate control. I’ve seen the basal go from 0 to 4units/hr in response to rising sugar and it will move it up and down literally by the minute. It does a fantastic job. Control IQ is much less aggressive so you can have issues if you eat high carbs or restaurant foods but that’s life I guess.

@@diabeticbeckyfitness4879 oh that’s too bad but I can also tell you that my infusion sites have never failed me except once(bent cannula) and I change my sites every 3 to 5 days depending on how much insulin I put in the cartridge. So hopefully the sites will work better for you also. I use the autosoft XC or 90 with 9mm (longer) cannula. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I got the T:Slim X2 in May of last year as I was diagnosed in April of 2020. I had an A1C of 9.2 in April last year and a month after being on the pump my A1C went down to 6.6. Does this mean that you will also be switching to the Dexcom G6?

Insulin pumps sucks, I stopped using mine for the same reasons you mentioned! The tubes get tangled, the air bubbles, the infusion site gets damaged and or disconnected so many issues!! MDI is always reliable! You get the insulin you shoot up!! One night the tube got tangled during my sleep and woke up next morning at 350 mg/dl!! That was the last straw for me

There's definitely pros and cons of each and pump /MDI will suit some more than others. I'm excited to change pumps and hopefully get a more reliable system!

a tip that i use for when the insulin doesnt go in from the pump is that i use the pen to do the correction and that works fine. idk if it'll work for you so, maybe give it a try? 🤷🏽

Yeah I’ve tired that a couple of times, but then I get worried the next site won’t work so I always want to try a bolus with the new site to make sure I’m good to go

Hello there🙂 sorry to see your pump is causing you issues. Might I suggest omnipod? I’ve been using it for about 6 years now and while it is not perfect it is fairly easy to use and pretty reliable. It’s also tubeless if that’s an issue.

Is it true that Accu-Chek phased out the Insight and Combo in the UK to instead focus on the Solo? If so, man, bad move. I asked my endo, and she also kept hearing complaints about the Solo. Both Insight and Combo are fine pumps. They are tubed pumps, and the Combo is very old by now, but that's the one I use, and it is absolutely rock solid, reliable, ultra robust, and just keeps working. But yeah, t:slim appears to be a great pump as well. It certainly is very popular among T1 youtubers, and they all seemed happy with it! And oh I can relate to your burnout and despair. As said, I've had very few occlusion issues with the Combo (maybe 1-2 in the year), but even _one_ of those is more than enough. That kind of stress grinds you down, which is something about T1 that few non-diabetic people really understand.

I’m not sure to be honest about the Combo and Insight - but agreed sometimes the old thing that works is better than the new one that doesn’t! I’m definitely looking forward to the t slim and just hoping all the KZbin reviews are right… And very true, you really can’t understand it until you go through it. It just feels like part of my every day now which is just rotting

@@diabeticbeckyfitness4879 With regards to the tubing, at least for me, it is rarely really an issue. Swimming would be the major one, but I hardly ever swim. In daily life, I just fasten the pump with a clip on the waistband, and that's it. Still, a tubeless pump sounds intriguing, so it is sad to see that the solo just doesn't work well. I'd have wished for more competition in the tubeless pump space. And, you saw several reviews already, so I don't know if this is redundant, but I can recommend the reviews from Michelle Lord and from She's Diabetic. The t slim won't work with DIY looping, but it has its own loop (Control IQ). If you can, get that!
