Pete was a wonderful guy, but no, the band wasn't always tight (how could they have been?) and this audio-track has nothing to do with what it sounded like that day in Wacken. It was more or less horrible; but yeah, it was Wacken, it was during the sunset, you can hardly get a better video...

John Kelly was my neighbor down the street in Staten Island when I was a young kid but I didn't really have a clue he was a rock star. Man let me bug the piss out of him all the time and he never once told me to get lost. Years later when I moved upstate, I discovered Type O Negative and my jaw dropped when I saw him in the band photo. Man if only I had known, John Kelly if you ever read this you the man!

@@A_Stereotypical_Heretic He didn't die from heart failure, that was clarified years later. He actually died from sepsis caused by diverticulitis, which even a healthy person can get at that age, is very easily treatable with antibiotics and rest, and probably didn't even have anything to do with his alcohol and drug addictions. He didn't get treatment because he refused to leave his cats at home with no one to take care of them. Such a waste

That's the auto-tune speaking. He didn't always use it, just likely when he got "extra inebriated," I guess. Unfortunately, I only got to see them live once, they didn't have auto-tune on his voice that time, but he probably needed it, because he was drinking a lot then as well. Either way, Type O Negative is still my favorite band of all time. RIP.

The lead singer of this band, Peter Steele, gave a wonderful interview some years ago saying that when his band Type O Negative first started writing songs, the music they created was them "just fooling around". In reality, they had created a new genre of music that could be called powerful metal/vamp music. Peter Steele said although many people may not know this, but the lyrics they wrote were intentionally written as comedy songs. Lead singer Steele was amazed at how quickly their listening audience grew. Still more amazed was Steele when he saw big money quickly coming in for Type O Negative's comedy songs. Steele and his band had created these songs for purely comical purposes, never to be taken seriously. Their fans loved it, even though this intriguing new music seemed more suited for the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, rather than for a Rock n' Roll concert stadium. :) ACCOMPLISHING THINGS WITH 100% SUCCESS Here's how to accomplish almost anything you want, with 100% success; Stick with love for all people, with no anger, hatred or resentment towards anyone, including yourself. Remember that all people are equal under the law, and all people are good deep down inside. T

I heard these guys once being played at a ragstock back in like 2004. I loved what I heard, it was the mix of so many awesome sounds and aesthetics. I had no idea who they were. I was so captivated by the wonderful music I asked the clerk if she knew who was playing on the playlist. Unfortunately she had no idea. I was very disappointed, when the song ended I tried to keep as much of it in my head as possible, 20 years later leaving just a faint whisper or memory. I would think of that music from time to time over the years and would feel sad that I would never get an answer to this eternal question. It was like a bad itch I could never scratch. Whilst cruising KZbin this morning I stumbled on this song and the light bulb illuminated in the deep storage unit of my mind. I finally have the answer!!! I cant express how awesome It feels to have that missing piece!

I’ve loved this song so much since I first heard it. To me, this is the exact level of obsession and self-doubt I experience every time I fall in love and I cry every time I listen. I literally want to find someone who will sing this to me as our first dance… but given my history of chronic depression and general mental instability I think I might just have to have it played at my funeral instead! To be clear, I’m not planning on that being any time soon - just think that’s more likely!

I love this. I am a recovering addict 11 years, and I can see Peter has got the yayo jaw going hard, especially if you watch full set, it gets worse as towards the last song. What's incredible to me, when I was coked out, I was frozen and could barely function...he masterfully nails this performance vocally and on the bass. I'm glad he got clean before his untimely death. 🙏

I miss TON so much. It was one of the few bands that got me excited in anticipation whenever they announced a new album was coming. My favorite album is October Rust, you listen to that with some good headphones, turn off the lights and man, that music takes you places.

Having been around music all my life(I'm now 50) and vaguely knowing about Peter Steele I had never listened to anything by Type O Negative, but this performance from Wacken popped up in my recommendations. Absolutely wow. What a band and what an amazing performer and person Peter was. Their harder stuff isn't really me but I love the melodic stuff like this. What a song. Feels like it really speaks to me.
