I think you meant to say: "Carbon can bond with up to four other *carbon* atoms" not oxygen. While carbon can form bonds with four oxygens, this is pretty uncommon. Typically carbons ability to form bonds with itself is regarded as the reason why it is so well suited for biomolecules.

Carbon can have 4 bonds, it could bond to 2 oxygens, even 4 oxygens (if they bond to something else aswell because one oxygen can have 2 bonds). There is no need to specifiy what it can and cannot bond to it just simply bonds 4 times and thats it.

There is likely life that we can't even comprehend in really exotic environments in the universe, for all we know we could be the most "exotic" form of life in the universe, compared to the others.
@flightevolution8132
@flightevolution8132 3 жыл бұрын
That would sound intelligent, if I had no knowledge of physics, biology or statistical analysis. No, we KNOW we aren't the most exotic life form in the universe because carbon based life is physiologically more simple than other theorized forms of life. We require much less in terms of perfect environments and or conditions to exist in, so your entire point falls flat on its face.
@science.and.beyond
@science.and.beyond 3 жыл бұрын
@@flightevolution8132 I am also educated in the topics of physics, biology and statistical analysis. We can agree to disagree. There is much to uncover about the universe, and we've only seen a small handful of possible environmental configurations. To say anything with certainty would be naïve.

@flightevolution8132
@flightevolution8132 3 жыл бұрын
@@ani_n01 You'd be able to answer this question if you had any knowledge of how biology works. I'm not discounting it entirely, but probability calculated using our knowledge of conditions that carbon life forms can survive in dictates that it would be near impossible for a simpler life form to exist. If you had been through medical school or had a degree in biology and or chemistry I could explain this quite simply.
@ani_n01
@ani_n01 3 жыл бұрын
@@flightevolution8132 we just watched a video, both of us, where they represented a unipolar charged piece of silicone as a form of life, comparing to that amoeba with its organelles and shit looks sophisticated to me. My idea is, in certain conditions, there might be some sort of (organic or other) cell like thing that does all of its functions in a binary way - for example it might be solar powered but instead of sophisticated photosynthesis, use the energy to crawl around and create this eimulses when they stumble across something sommilar. There also might be organic soup with temporary organelles without sense of individual beings. Now tell me, who are you and how do you assume who has knowledge in what subject? I might now say, if you had any knowledge on mathatics you'd understand that just because you can't imagine something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. What is most likely is that the truth is in the middle, and that the next life form we encounter will be, in terms of complexity, somewhere between a bacterium nad a flea

He's Immortal to literally everything else in the Infinite Multiverses, he'll be here in the latest times of the Universe, well after it's Heat Death, a Quattuorquinquagintillion Years from now, he'll be the one to create heat and energy and stars for any forms of life to continue existing until they can move onto the next Universe or survive the Continuation, he'll guide them just like he guides me through the Unconscious of the Dreaming and will guide me through the New Universe into the Collective Consciousness when I die.

Free will is hard to prove, if we physically remove pieces of some ones brain, their personality and behavior would obviously change. Very quickly. Our biology/genes control our desires and determine how we live as well, but we can't choose how our biology/genes work.

No it will not, science is a form of oppression of the masses, and it leads to a toxic would of pragmatism. Just look at the movie Equilibrium: that’s what a world with only science will become.

0:48 since when can carbon form bonds with 4 oxygen atoms, while only having 4 electrons on its valence shell? its CO2 not CO4, isn't it :)
@rojopantalones9791
@rojopantalones9791 2 жыл бұрын
Carbon Tetroxide is a thing. It's highly unstable and only forms naturally in extreme situations, but carbon can, in fact, bond with 4 oxygen atoms. Not for very long, roughly 1μs, but, again, possible. Silicon, however, bonds with multiple oxygen atoms quite easily and is far more stable. Barium orthosilicates (Ba2SiO4) are commonly used in LEDs, for example. However, I think that the intent was that carbon easily forms, well, hydrocarbons. Carbon bonds with 4 hydrogens to form methane, which is the simplest possible organic compound. Silicon can also form a bond with 4 hydrogens, but the bond strength is much weaker. It's also capable of spontaneously igniting when in contact with air, so that's fun.
