I honestly believe that you got the "lazy programmer" wrong. I personally code the shittest code to make something work doing it as fast as I can, and only polish it if it stops working. That's what I'd call a lazy programmer.

One of my college professors told me that the best programmers are the laziest ones, because they try as hard as possible to make things easy. He was the one who lost my final project after I turned it in twice, though, so I got a C in his course...

I use Scratch and never want to copy code, but when I do, I just... copy an entire thing if I need it, and modify it to work with what I need it to do If anything, I just steal music and sfx. I also don't know what delta means, but I use framerate to control game speed anyways :)

As a game design major copying code is good the way you are using it. Modifying code given online is a great way to learn new skills as long as you understand the code and know how to use it for future use on your own.

I don’t think it’s quite fair to shame people for using visual scripting. I for one can code in Python and C# and simply chose to use a visual programming based engine (Gdevelop) purely because I like the workflow and it makes things quicker for me. The obvious downside is that there’s less resources for help however I can figure out most things myself after some thinking.

His self sacrifice made everyone realize...THEY COULD BE (insert game engine they use here)SUS CODE! We can all do it, we just have to make the effort to go touch grass and work out.
