I'm currently dealing with a hot mess micromanaging gaslighter. The person wrote a bad appraisal on me without documentation. I did HR complaints with documentation. The manager above her was directed to make things right. I endured the nonsense for years. The person wanted someone else to get my position. They didn't anticipate my years of documentation. Don't play with my brand. I'm keeping my peace.

Same here. We were lucky if the Manager showed up once a week. We just basically took over for her. One of us would make the daily assignments and we took turns being the charge nurse. When the Manager did show up, she would get upset that we were doing her job. I finally told her that since she was not showing up that our Unit had agreed to take over her duties and if she wanted to do her job then she would have to show up.

The secret is to realistically assess the actual amount of trouble something can bring...and taking note of those around you by tendencies. I mean, I'm like that too. Some people I'm square up into, because they've shown they're prone to being careless and not being responsible. Others? I'm chill with. That's wether I was charge, working with various PCTs, or as an instructor. You can relax a bit, once you know who does and doesn't need to be micromanaged. I never needed much managing and supervisors would let me run free even in my young years...oh so long ago. That is the model of how I have handled this. Some, you HAVE to stay all over. Others, you don't. Determine who's who, and your energies will be conserved. You, and everyone else, will be able to handle it a lot better.

These are so accurate but the part during the “hot mess” representation with “J-Co is coming” is so flipping realistic! My first week of orientation on the floor was actually when J-Co came to my hospital and everyone was running around. My nurse manager during huddle kept saying “no jetsons in the hallway, nothing in the hallway and the rooms have to be immaculate, nothing on the floor!” And then, J-Co only interrogated him and almost no one else 😆
