I literally know 1 person... 1 out of all the 1000+ people I’ve served with my 14 years in the navy that came in married and was still married to the same chick after their first enlistment. That person is not me, I came home in 2010 after 9 months out to find out some guy had been living in my house for the last 3 months before him and the wife ran off together right before I got back. I guess at least she didn’t empty the bank accounts and take all the money I made on deployment when she left. So I guess there was a bright side.

Well the only time I ever challenge is when I see people outside a store with a big sign saying I am a disabled vet and they are selling some little flags for 5 dollars. Sorry but being a disabled vet myself. I know you are getting paid. I know you will have a VA ID that will say service connected. When I show mine and ask do you have one? I get the deer in the headlights look and have even had them say what is that. GAME ON. It is not ok to claim to be a disabled vet and use the sympathy and patriotism of people to bum money. This is disrespectful to the vet and makes us all look bad. I have come across people on youtube making videos of how they feel about vets after being exposed to these con men. People need to know those are not vets those are con men. Most vets will have their shit together; there are way to many programs and avenues of support for us to resort to begging. You may however see us raising money for a good cause.

1.) I'm rated 0% for a knee injury(torn meniscus) , and after an appeal I quit, because if I liked politicing I would have stayed in. 2.) Going back to 1, I gave my info to the VA rep, for a VA card and "let them go to lunch" guess what never happened... All I do is go on missions and got 2 CIB's, Bronze Star with Valor, and 2 Purple Hearts one from each deployment. So yeah

He started to tell me how hard basic training was kinda weird because my brothers always called it boot camp I asked where he went? He told me he couldn't remember . How could anyone not remember where they went. I don't believe he ever served. But I never served so even though I really don't think he did . If I told him I didn't believe him and he did . Would end up being the biggest bitch ever.

As I recall there are several downsides of stolen valor - 1. Someone imposing as military tries to speak for military and can talk some real shit that everyone might take seriously cause, hey, he looks (ex)military. There are countless videos of such fuckos talking in front of crowds posing as some green beret or navy seal while not knowing how to properly wear a uniform. 2. Some people use uniforms and badges to get freestuff at stores and discounts or to avoid a ticket, in short - personal gain. 3. It's forbidden by law to impose as military as written in plain language that civilian population in stressful or emergency situation must be sure that people in uniform are military and not somebody else. Hell, even ex military can't just walk around wearing their old uniform, there is a period after discharge when one can wear it or special occasions.

Well Hornestly that seriously depends on what European country. My country usually (apart from the radical left) has alot of respect for the armed forces and I am often greeted on my way home from work if wearing the uniform. (which is very normal to do on the way home from work here) From people who just greet me or people who wishes to talk with me. And while I can't claim a "medal of honor" I'm just very happy to be in the army, it's always been my life goal. Hornestly I'm happy it's not like in America here, where I would get discounts or people pay for my meals at a resturant or walk up and call me a hero (some of my colleagues have experienced that when on an exercise in the U.S) Because I don't want people to pay for my stuff, with their hard earned money because I have a salary too. And I wouldn't know how to react to be called a hero. Especially since I haven't done anything of notice. And you don't have to be a soldier to serve your society. I think conscription (my European country has it) is a good thing. it's a good thing to shake up the young lads. But you don't have to stay after your time in the army.
