If you were lucky enough, you were born into a military family and so you grew up already hearing all of this throughout your childhood and teenage years. Therefore you are already immune and aware that it's just motivation.....angry loud motivation, but motivation none the less.

+A Combat Veteran I love this fucking tradition, either side too. All them fucking privates need to suck that shit up, they're in the Army now.
I caught tons of shit as a private. Not because I was FUBAR, but simply because the NCO'S wanted to see what I was made of. Some privates are smart, but not Army smart. Heck most can't pour piss out of a boot if the directions were on the heel. If they get butt hurt over words, then they can't handle life.

"I'm not trying to take you on. I just don't think it's necessary to degrade people to get them to perform. You could get better results raising our spirits than lowering our dignity." That was quite a line from Private Epstein in the film adaptation of Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues." He was that draftee that clearly didn't belong there because he couldn't adapt. Smart in the classroom, but put him in the field with a rifle, and it's almost a guarantee that he's going to get himself killed, probably along with at least one of his battle buddies.

+A Combat Veteran. I wish you had been a member of the cadre at Ft. Jackson when I did my basic. Our drill sergeants 2 favourite words were "f***tard" and "stitches". While we were at roll call during reception week, I accidently yelled, "Oh s***". The drill sergeant's response was priceless. She said, " Oh so you need to take a s*** do you?" We'll see if you ever say that again when I'm through with you. She then made me pretend that I was sitting on an invisible toilet until my legs bolted out from under me. Then, because I fell I got to do push ups and squat thrusts. You better believe that I never said another curse word within hearing range of the cadre.
