Great vid…I have a ‘49 Rocket on the way, and I always like finding reviews/tutorials on typewriters before they get here if they’re ones I haven’t had. The history of rocket development was great, too! 🎉

Thank you for this comprehensive tour of the Hermes Rocket. You might not be aware that the British made Empire Aristocrat is a licenced clone of the Hermes Baby. Everything you said about the Rocket/Baby applies to the Empire Aristocrat. I recently acquired one and your vid has helped me find a couple of features I wasn't aware of.

Thanks for the message. I knew they were a clone but I haven’t seen one in person yet. Some day!

What a great video. I have a 1950 Rocket just like this one and it is probably my most heavily used typewriter besides my 3000.

Thanks! I enjoyed working on this one. Love the small size.

I have the same year machine as you have shown in your video. The crowding you mentioned is an escapement adjustment that needs to be made, according to the service manual. My machine does not display that fault even when typing quickly.
@TypewriterMinutes5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I gave this machine to a friend at work who moved to Switzerland so I won’t be able to attempt the adjustment. Maybe when I get ahold of another one ...

Hello i have an equal, and the reverse of te tape is manual then ?
@TypewriterMinutes3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I have not owned this machine for a few years so I cannot confirm, but I believe it had automatic ribbon reverse. The manual reverse lever was just a backup in case it does not reverse automatically for some reason.
@josegaldeano11123 жыл бұрын
@@TypewriterMinutes OK thank you
@michaelbliss53302 жыл бұрын
If you use ribbon with reversing rivets, it will reverse automatically.

Does the Hermes Baby / Rocket need a specific size ribbon? When I type the letters "b, l, k, h" the top half of the letters never appear clearly with the first press of the key
@TypewriterMinutes4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed reply. It uses standard half inch ribbon. It sounds like that might need an adjustment on the type face instead, but I would have to see the machine in person to verify.

Very nice video explaining this machine, thank you. Any knowledge how to take the carriage off safely ?
@TypewriterMinutes6 жыл бұрын
I have not had to take the carriage off so I won’t be much help there. Why do you want to take the carriage off? Repair or cleaning? If for cleaning I would recommend leaving it on.
@VintageTexas596 жыл бұрын
There is a grinding noise from inside the carriage, probably missing some steel balls or defective rail due to shipping damage.
