Typhoon is trying to describe how we have created the deception that we are all "special" in some way ("their life is original"), when in reality, this sentiment is ruining us for future generations (hence the verse about the book). They are trying to say we need to stand for something, to intentionally be someone if we really wish to be "special". If you want to understand Typhoon better, compare their lyrics to Soren Kierkegaard's philosophy.
