Just wondering where were the homeless people at this time as Hong Kong has a lot of homeless people.

I was there during the typhoon, we were supposed to leave that day but our flight got suspended as a result. This was horrifying for me while I saw a lady in an umbrella struggling herself to go move under the intense wind pressures.

The landfall it made in the Philippines made it weaker, but it still damn powerful, specially for someone who hasn't experienced a lot of super typhoons.

Very well made video about the typhoon, should have more views!

I feel so bad for the city as it lost plenty of history, like the stone steps and the century-old trees. It really hurts to see this happen.

I survived this typhoon... Hong Kong is a great city. Built to withstand more severe typhoons. 💪

Mangkhut is definitely NOT the most intense typhoon to hit Hong Kong since records began. In terms of overall winds experienced in Hong Kong, it can't even match Typhoon Ellen (1983), not to mention Typhoons Wanda and Ruby in the 1960s. Please do more research (or ask the HK Observatory) for the relevant scientific information before making such unwarranted and inaccurate claims. Indeed, Mangkhut had substantially weakened after crossing Luzon, and by the time it was closest to Hong Kong, its intensity was exceeded by quite a few other typhoons which had caused the issuance of the No.10 Signal since WWII.

Mangkhut may not the most intense typhoon that came near Hong Kong, but its highest wind and lowest pressure still beat Typhoon Ellen, Wanda and Ruby. Mangkhut is a category 5 typhoon, none of them are category 5. Infrastructure is much better than 1960s, that's why Mangkhut caused no fatality in HK.
