The apartments were really nice, it's hard to pick a favourite. It's interesting that their values have increased quite a lot. The last apartment owner mentioned they are unhappy with the maintenance services, I know exactly how they feel as I'm in central London W1 and in the last 4 years the services have been abysmal, but my rent has increased almost 30% in the last 2 years, poorer maintenance services seems to be a more or less a world wide issue during these difficult financial times. One common factor I also noticed in all the interiors, is none were traditional Russian-Soviet, as I love the large and substantial matching dark wood cabinets, shelves and cupboards that you see in many more traditional soviet style interiors, with the large rug hanging on a whole wall and sometimes a large samovar on a table with a traditional table cloth and the blue and white ornaments. Loved the video. 🤩

What i'm noticed in Russian that we don't do here in the US is that you can BUY your apartments. Here you can only rent units within the building. I prefer the Russian way because most people don't want to rent and would rather spend $70,000 buying a place and they will be rent free. I truly believe that it's structured that way in the US so you can't get ahead. They don't want you to be able to buy anything affordable and live debt free. Thanks for the video.

Too small rooms and not an open feel to the space like I'm used to. Also, we do and have always required people take off their shoes where I live in the US. I have only known a few people who wear their shoes in the house over my last 60 years here and they are the ones who were renting something. Perhaps it's different in other parts of the US.

The first apartment building reminds me of my grandparents apartment in St Petersburg although theirs is 5 stories without an elevator, but the outside is very reminiscent, my mother in laws apartment in St Petersburg is more modern being built in the 80's although didn't always have hot water and in the winter could be a pain, there was a sign on the main door of the building that read "the hot water in this building will be switched off between the 24th of December until the 10th of January, if you require a hot bath, ask your neighbor" 😂 but my wife's uncles apartment in the center of St Petersburg is a grand building built in the 1700's quite near the opera house (he is in the St Petersburg Orchestra) is a beautiful apartment high ceilings beautiful Georgian plaster coving with high windows all around, truly spectacular, and my father in laws apartment is from the 90's built right on the Baltic in between the Gasprom building (tallest building in Europe) and the brand new Zenith St Petersburg stadium. Quite the mixture from the 1700's through to the communist era and post communist era.

Ох я посмеялся от души на 19 минуте , когда увидел носки с рисунками у него на ногах, такое носят только детишки в садике. Походу он долго жену в России не найдет.

What part of Russia do you live in Sam? Also do most people rent or buy in Russia? That 1st flat with the cats was about £50,000 to £60,000, not a bad price I thought.

It is probably way cheaper there the cost for apartments or condos, the way they are called in North America. Is because they do not build those apartment complexes with underground Parkade and that is a huge issue because some families would have two or even three cars so in North America for an example. If it's one bedroom condo it would come with one underground parking spot and if it's two bedroom, then there's two parking spots and if it's three then three parking spots underground.

Apartments...in North America are only monthly rental units usually with a 12 month lease commitment. Otherwise if purchased we call them condo's, with the usual added property taxes and condos fees to maintain the building common areas and grounds. I wonder what and if there are monthly maintenance fees for 'apartments' (Condos) in Russia?
