I love the attitude and caring these guys show as well. Also worth noting, red drum over 28 inches in Texas waters must be released unless it's a tag year and they have a special red drum license. Most states have similar regulations. Typically, they could not have legally kept that fish, and seeing how they operate, I'm thinking they wouldn't have wanted to anyway.

As a Texas gulf coast surfer, I always steered clear of the surf casters. I knew it'd be sharky when they were slinging large bait. This was a nice flat and glassy day obviously. That red was huge! I know you can keep one a day over 26" but it was awesome seeing ya'll set that old man back to sea.

I once caught a small 18" ray in my crabbing net lol. It slid off the top (made a nice little lid for it, kept my crabs in, lol) before I could bring it in, but that was for the better anyway. It was my first ray and I've only seen videos about how to handle them correctly, hadn't ever practiced it. It was fun to see one in the wild that close though.

My Dad loved fishing. He was a heart patient so fishing became his life. He liked deep sea fishing and had a good amount of deep sea tackle. So when my folks moved back home to Okla., he liked going to the river to Spoon bill fish. First year he used his ocean tackle and was catching his limit. And people had never seen a set up like his. After a couple of years just about all were fishing for the spoonbills like him. Got my love of fishing from him.🐟👍

Well, it’s not much but if you watch in the early part of the video, when they’re setting up, you will see an axe being misused as a hammer to drive in the rod holder pipes. Using the axe sideways is considered incorrect by BSA standards and if it had a wooden handle it could have broken. Leaving them to look for something else to drive the other pole pipes. I know it’s their own too and they can do what they want. Just saying if you wanted to find something to dislike about the video that might be one. Thanks 😊

I've never understood the point of catch and release. Yeah, let's jam a hook in this creature's mouth, send it into a panicked fight for its life and then, oh wow we're so kind and respectful to let it go. The way to respect nature is to leave it the hell alone and not torture it for 'fun.'
@dodieodie498
@dodieodie498 2 жыл бұрын
@@rubyfirefly2582 Gotta agree with that. I'm not sure how sensitive a fish is, but having a big hook in your mouth or jaw or gill and having to pull against it can't be a good experience. I am fine with fishing, and with releasing something if it's too small or inedible. But I'm old school. Hunt or fish to eat. Not because you are playing some sort of game and want an adrenaline rush. There are too many other "sports" that don't involve injuring animals.

I was also the only kid who could clean everything ,including rays and people payed me to clean fish at the wash stations more than once. I'd unhook sharks and Rays for people . It was fun

Yeah, very respectful to injure them with a hook, cause them massive stress and let them suffer cos they're not able to breathe for several minutes...

That red was a beauty!!!!! And that shark was beat up!!!! Fishing in the ocean is different because u don't get hung up really and u never know what u have hooked. But it's amazing!!!!

Wow this really triggered my nostalgia! I grew up in San Antonio but my mom was obsessed with the ocean, so we always found an excuse for her to take off work and book me and my sisters to corpus christi every chance she could get, and as a kid I hated it because of all the jellyfish and the haze and the gritty sand, and being scared that I was going to see someone get eaten by a shark, but as an adult watching her in failing health I got misty as soon as I recognized that texas coast because it will always be the happiest I ever saw my mother. Love y'all's videos, the catch and release is a beautiful energy. Take care everyone.

He’s soooooo friggin’ lucky that Ray didn’t make a run when his hand was all twisted around in that line. Just crazy. Pretty dumb actually. Good catch though, as usual.

Had me reminiscing about an old Brian Regan skit about fishing videos 🤣, except this YT video Does make watching fishing videos more interesting and exciting. I don't even know why this showed up in my algorithm, but it did and I watched it. Was interesting. I might just watch more of this channel 🐟🦈

@hdctx
@hdctx 2 жыл бұрын
Fairly easy to estimate weight based in length, and a bit less stressful for the fish than the added time of weighing it. Bull reds are all catch and release on the Texas coast.
