Cheap setups can offer incredible results if you can use them 100% correct. Many people skip this and wasting their money. I have behringer umc 404hd, ultra-g and di signal as clear as it can be (fat sound, no ground hum). I'm very happy with behringer products in my home studio. Nice review i think. Cheers!

There was an obvious phase issue when you mixed the Marshall with the simulator. You could hear a blatant volume drop and it thinned out.

Hello, with the behringer Ultra Gi100 I can connect the speaker output of my guitar head to the input of the ultra G, in the link output connect my 2x12 screen and in balanced output to my audio interface, without activating the 4x12 simulator and thus record the sound of my head raw and in my DAW use speaker IRs to find my sound?

Hey dude your amp head is with transistors or valves? Or its hybrid? And how is the right way to connect this to Amp valve head, thanks, very complete and informative video
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer4 жыл бұрын
It's transistor. You should plug the speaker cable straight to the Ultra G then back to the speaker, if you wish. If you've got cranky neighbours, skip the speaker. Plug the xlr cable to the interface and use the phantom power if you don't have a 9v battery. It needs to be xlr to xlr. Just before you play, please, activate the cab simulator and voila. You can use your amphead and any effect chain plugged in the send / receive. Hopefully, I've explained myself clearly. Oh, and use the - 20db pad before you play, we have to make sure you don't blow your ears out. Cheers, dude!

If you have a valve head, always plug into the speaker as well! (Unless you have a loadbox, which this is not!)
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer4 жыл бұрын
Always? I've plugged transistor and valve ampheads only to the ultra g when I record and have never had any issues. Mine must be an exception to the rule. Cheers!
@mrcoatsworth4294 жыл бұрын
@@EmilKleinGearAndBeer yes, always. (The only exception is when your amp has a loadbox built in, but those are rare.) A tube amp basically needs somewhere the power it generates can go. If it can't go anywhere, it will damage the output transformer. What kind of amp do you have? If it is a hybrid (tube preamp, transistor power amp), then it's OK.
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer4 жыл бұрын
I guess it's better to be careful. However, it's a di box that has got enough impedance to avoid any damage. I'm just sharing my experience with the ultra g, but you're right. Better proceed with caution. Cheers.

Hi, nice review, I just picked one up. I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer. I have it connected using xlr to trs cable from the ultr gi box into the mic level input on the mixer, but it does not work with the phantom power. SO does it need to be xlr to xlr cable for phantom power to work? Also, there is no light indicator to know if it is running, does the battery continue to work and get drained if you have the cables are still plugged into the ultra gi box, but not in either the source of the mixer?
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer Жыл бұрын
Hi David. You need to plug it XLR to XLR in order to use the Phantom power. Now , regarding the second question, you can perfectly have a battery in and use the phantom power. I'm sure the battery disconnects as soon as the phantom kicks in, it works just like a pedal. Cheers Bud!

The speaker simulator does not work for me. Do you have to use a guitar amp for this to work? I'm running a Line6 PODxt Live into a small mixer for volume control, then into the UltraG then XLR out of the UltraG into a PA cab. The 4x12 speaker simulator just mutes the signal 100%. Wondering if the speaker sim only works with an speaker level signal coming from an amp.

Hey can you connect a line out form a marshall preamp to this and use the cab simulation??
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer3 жыл бұрын
It depends if it's a tube or transistor. If it's transistor, you can. If it's a valve one, I'd suggest getting a reactive load box like "Two Note Torpedo". I know... shit's a bit expensive, but worth the money.

I want to record the guitar head directly to the recording interface, can the behringer ultra g work for me?

Hi, I hava a question. Please help me. I have 2 guitars, 1 guitar have active pickups 1 guitar have passive pickups. I have a pedal board ( metal master, mxr 5150, mooer 002 preamp pedal vs.). At last i have a focusrite scarlet 2i2 sound card. When i want to direct record to my guitars with the metal and rock pedals, the sound like a sizzle. I am a little bit confused. I have both pickups but also i have pedals. Regardless of pickups, are these pedals tones active? Should i buy active or passive Di box? or both? My setup is like this; Passive-Active pickup Guitars > My Pedal Board (Metal tones or the other tones) > Preamp pedal > Focusrite Scarlet 2i2. Thank you.
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer4 жыл бұрын
Passive or active DI is good. However, if you want to use your pedalboard, you will need one DI box with cab simulator like the Ultra G or onenote. It depends on your budget. If you plug the pedalboard to just any di box, you will never make it sound like a real effect. Cheers!

Hello.. greetings from Indonesia.. please help, i wanna ask you this : my Amp Marshall 50c which there is DI out channel. Can i connect to DI box before mixer and what cable that i suppose to use? (Line or speaker cable) Thank you very much in advance
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Marshall 50C has got 3 preamplifier valves, hence, you can perfectly plug it to the Ultra G. However, when connecting the speaker output of a tube amp to the input of the GI100, please, be sure to connect a guitar speaker or other appropriate impedance load to the Direct Link socket in order to avoid possible damage to your amplifier. Yes, the cable from the Direct Link to the Cab should be a speaker cable. When using the amp, never play the guitar without activating de CAB mode. For more information, here's the PDF manual to UltraG: mediadl.musictribe.com/media/sys_master/h3f/h6e/8849801510942.pdf

Can I use this DI for active guitar ?
@EmilKleinGearAndBeer5 жыл бұрын
You can, but please use both -20db pads to control the output volume. I usually use passive DI boxes with active guitars and viceversa, the only issue would be the quality of the sound when you record. It might be to loud but give it a try!
@svart424 жыл бұрын
I have the very same DI box in this video and tried to use it with the Scarlett 4i4 3rd gen because the Blackouts and EMG output is too much. With -20 dB I can get better results than using the Scarlett instrument input with its pad but it's still too loud and noisy. A passive DI box works better. I've seen a Palmer PAN 04 at 68 bucks.
