The old tyres still look fine to me, why change all 4? 😅
@peterpan9785Ай бұрын
Fun Fact - its actually much more expensive to change new tyres in Malaysia than in Singapore
@DarenYoongАй бұрын
True. It looks cheaper to replace tyres in Singapore. What's the reason for that?
@billtay2839Ай бұрын
@@DarenYoong why didn't you change the tyres in SG?

@billtay2839 he did share before, the tyre go out from rims in Malaysia when he heading to Kuala Lumpur.

Congrats to your fist time experience of changing tires! 😄 Also my first time seeing the whole tyre taking a bath LOL

can ask why 4?? since u damage left rear ..suggest change a pair will do.
@DarenYoongАй бұрын
We're already at 21,000km mileage, so was okay to switch all 4 for peace of mind. The price is also slightly more affordable in Malaysia compared to Singapore.

Your previous michelin tire only lasted 20k kms before it burst. what convinced you to go back to michelin
@waterbubbler44Ай бұрын
Exactly my thoughts. That rear left basically failed prematurely. I was thinking you should go back to Tesla to claim for premature failure.
@DarenYoongАй бұрын
Many of my friends around the world have been using Michelin tyres, and they’re the standard tyres shipped with Teslas in most markets globally, so decided to keep it! Changed all at 21k mileage out of an abundance of caution. My Tesla owner friends have used their tyres for 30-40k mileage.

They took the trouble of washing the rims but not the covers?
@DarenYoongАй бұрын
I believe washing the rims was for safety reasons (ensuring that there's no dirt/dust to disrupt wheel operation once installed back on car), and the exterior covers can be washed easily on our own (just washed my car at our HDB carpark once we got back to Singapore).
@tuckwengtor9421Ай бұрын
21,000 km mileage is a very high consumable cost as typically lifespan of a tyre in ICE car can last between between 40 to 50,000 km mileage.
@DarenYoongАй бұрын
True. Have Tesla owner friends who are using their tyres for up to 45,000km! I changed all my tyres for peace of mind after the incident for extra caution.
@tuckwengtor9421Ай бұрын
@@DarenYoong I think Telsa heavier weight has a significant higher wear on the tyres, rendering it having much shorter lifespan. Although electric charging is a cheaper option compared to fuel refilling, but if the tyre replacement is halved the lifetime of ICE, then one need to factor in the S$1000 for 4 tyres. Hence overall cost of ownership for EV may not be much cheaper than ICE as S$1000 can get us > 400 litres of petrol etc.
@winstonl1629Ай бұрын
I thought wheel balancing should be done every 10k km? Didn't know it can last the lifetime after 1st balancing on new tyres.
@DarenYoongАй бұрын
Yes, wheel balancing should be done every 10,000km! My mistake in recording.
