Here's a good shooting contest to have, ideally with 2 partners (if you have two balls like me) but 1 or 3 works fine too. It may not sound all that revolutionary but I think you'll love it if you try it (especially if you're a good shooter). Pick whichever spots you want. One player shoots from that spot until he gets three misses. The others rebound and pass him the ball. Once his turn is over, the next player goes. Whoever makes the most shots wins the spot. Whoever wins the most spots wins the game. One alteration that makes it more game-like is that if you miss the very first spot in your turn it counts as two misses, so you only get one more. It puts pressure on the first shot, and in a game you're only every shooting that first shot. I've called it "Miss 3". Good shooters will find that they can get 20-30 makes at one spot from time to time, and if anyone's shooting poorly there's no running down rebounds all day long. I've found that it's easy to get into the zone with this drill. It also inherently rewards good performances rather than just calling yourself the winner at the end, since if you do well you get to keep get more reps in. If you try it and you enjoy it, just do me a favour and do something good for somebody.
