Pico 4 is the main competitor. And G2 would be interesting as the best of Fresnel optics (only the center area of course). I'm curious if you will be able to show the pixel placement issue of Quest 3 - because displays are placed at the angle, straight lines and text must look fuzzier on it than on G2 and Pico 4, but the real impression while wearing it could be different.

My passthrough video looks not that good, even with very good light. It is not exactly grainy but it has more digital artifacts, like if the signal was too compressed. Has anyone seen that?

Just an FYI, the audio issue is a bug caused by Virtual Desktop. If you reboot your PC using VD at all, it can break the Oculus airlink/link audio. I've had it happen 4-5 times in the last 2 months. You need to go into your windows audio devices and re-enable it.

I totally pre-ordered the Quest 3, but i have a good reason. I own a Quest 1 and basically needed to move on to something else. Having said that, everything i see and hear about the Quest 3 is awesome, and I think it's the right choice for me. Even if there isn't any new games designed for the Quest 3 at launch, you still have new content always coming out like for games such as Beat Saber, Walkabout mini golf and Puzzling Places, just to name a few. I am curious to see how Drop Dead: Dual Strike looks on the Quest 3 also. Thanks for the review of the Quest 3 as I am always learning new things, or I at least value many opinions on the Quest 3. So far everyone I have seen review the Quest 3 has liked it and I pre-ordered the 512 GB model and got the elite strap with battery backup and prescription lenses, so I am pretty good to go when i receive the Quest 3 on Wednesday from Amazon.

It's an interesting take on the price. People are willing to spend $800+ on phones where innovation is somewhat stagnant. If you've never tried VR before, save money on buying a new phone or the most expensive version of a phone, and try a technology that may enhance your life with a new experience.

Even on top spec headsets at 1000$ via DP headset is the small cost. Even more so on pico and quest and other mid range ones. Headset 400-1000$ GPU 1500$ (at least for top tier) PC the rest (cpu mem disk aso) 1000$

Here's my request list for your next videos: :D For me the quality of the PCVR pass through would be my most used feature. I would like to see it set up for wireless PCVR as well. Seems like quality comparisons and tracking are incoming as well. Good work on the video. It really is hard to beat for the price. I'm coming in from a Rift S, which is very comfortable and good enough, so it's nice to think about possible upgrades.

As for the microphone not working, I found the fix to be going to audio output/input in windows settings and then manage your audio drivers. For whatever reason, my input driver for the headset was disabled. I enabled it and it worked normally as usual. Weird problem but that's pretty much all u gotta do

It’s even more insane the first Quest had OLED. I really miss the black levels for horror games. The drop off in that regard on Quest 2 was jarring.

There's no latency on Quest 2 so I doubt it would be a step back. It's running on the same software. If you can play Beat Saber on Expert+ you aren't going to have any issues playing MSFS.

I ordered myself the 128, I use mostly pcvr and Quest games are always pretty small ( the biggest is 32 gb if I'm not mistaken ), bear in mind that I survived years with the 64gb quest 2 🤣

I think a good question to answer is that if the PCVR experience is much improved to justify the (almost double) price tag of the quest 2.

That's completely the wrong way to look at it. For PCVR the appropriate challange in that space is the HP Reverb G2 which retails in the UK for £719 pounds. The Quest 3 uncuts that by £100 pounds selling at £619. I know there might be minimal artifacts but with a sold PC behind you, it's so close to PCVR and you have edge to edge clarity as well, plus all the other headset talants that's it's still really good value for money.

I just got the cover, thank you man! Nice video. Do you have any tutorials on how to properly install VR headset to get it to work on steam games with playable FPS? I have tried to play IL-2 via steam VR, and it was just unplayable - lots of software resistance before I even got it to work properly, now the fps is under 30 :( my system is a laptop from ASUS with a 13980hx + 4070RTX 16gig of ram, 2 TB SSD & so on. I thought it should be able to run it, turns out it doesn't have the muscle for it. Furthermore, I don't want to buy a new rig or a new laptop just to run my VR properly on it... Have you got any tips or tutorials for people like me? Thank you.

How is brightness? The Pico 4 is pretty dim, is this better? Also, Heise reviewed this as well and stated the brightness uniformity was poor - the edges were much darker. Did you notice this as well?

I got the Meta Quest 3 a few days ago. I was instantly amazed when first starting it and putting it on. Not so much since... Asgard's Wrath is a freebie which needs to be downloaded to PC and this process sucks. It seems if one can not do a full continuous download of 80+ gig, even though the Oculus software provides a "pause", when continuing the download it appears to either be starting all over, or verifying the previously downloaded files. This takes a very long time, almost as long as the original download thus far, and thus, I can not proceed further than about 20gb. Searching various forums it seems the Oculus software has had this problem for MORE THAN THREE YEARS! I love and am amazed by the hardware, but this inability to handle a simple download is so frustrating (how many years, decades, have we been downloading now?) I'm darn near to the point of returning it.
