There is NO OTHER EXPLANATION. That was NOT for no reason. And fuck D&D and HBO for ruining Tyrion's arc.

I think this is the most beautiful scene in the entire show. Two great, majestic creatures of untold mystery and myth, two INTELLIGENT creatures readily listening to and feeling sympathy for a man brave enough to speak to them as equals, with the reverence these incredible creatures truly deserve and returning the same respect he approached them with. And then they kill off these two brilliant boys so unceremoniously, in manners that are frankly almost an affront to them as characters. The only speck of the intelligence of dragons we see after this is Drogon's anger and grief over the conflict melting the throne and leaving John unscathed- and I'm gonna be honest, maybe this would have hit a little harder if they'd done more respect to the dragons than "they are blissfully unaware of their one weakness and totally unable to dodge projectiles despite numerous insane feats of agility". Like, I'm sorry- if the archers didn't take out BABY Drogon during his first Dracarys, Scorpions ain't shit.

That is an interesting spin on the whole story with Tywin telling Tyrion that he's not his son after Tyrion just put an arrow into him. Tyrion had to be confused, at least, by all the times that Tywin said the opposite. The man died either trying to console himself with a lie, or finally decided to be honest with his last breath. What a dichotomy. And the real issue is that he had no idea if Tyrion was actually his son or not. Seems the entire kingdom was full of bastards who thought they were someones' son when they weren't. What would Joffery have done if he had known that he was Jamies' son.
@crazylarryjr2 жыл бұрын
There is actually a theory that Tyrion was the only one that was legitimately his, Jamie and Cersei were from a Valerian father/father's, hence their attraction for each other (I believe that was a hint to it). It's a sort of sick irony that the only true son he had was a sickly twisted dwarf, that killed his own mother on the way out huh?
@touristguy872 жыл бұрын
@@crazylarryjr ...that whole bloodline is confused, from Tywin as Hand to Cersei as Queen. Certainly would imply that Cersei married the king and had his child while Tywin was alive. He sure seemed happy to sit on the Iron Throne in judgement of his own son, falsely accused of poisoning his own nephew yet suspected to the point of calling for a trial by combat. Well, you flaunt the judgment of the gods, you do so at your own peril.
@Meirstein2 жыл бұрын
@@crazylarryjr That is exactly why Tywin hates Tyrion so much. By all accounts, he SHOULD be the perfect heir. He's just as smart, cunning, and ambitious as his father. However, Tyrion has utterly failed in Tywin's eyes to actually use these gifts for the good of the family. He's a dwarf, so he will never be a good soldier. He's a whoremonger, so he will not be noble or respected. He's an alcoholic, so he reminds Tywin of the total joke Tywin's father Tytos was amongst his subordinates.

My issue with this scene was that when Dany locked them up, they were the size of a small donkey, if that. Here they have tripled in size, but the collars are now huge too. Who was replacing the collars? They were not happy being locked up, so was Dany going in and switching the collars? Why did it seem as if she had not visited them, when she finally went down in a later season, and they were highly aggressive towards her? So aggressive that Dany ran away in fear.
@pirobot668beta Жыл бұрын
Dragons eat almost constantly; starve them a day of two so they won't refuse the meal, then feed them a drugged pig or something. As they sleep off the food-coma, install new collars. BTW, that much steel would weigh in excess of 800 pounds, the pin alone a solid 15! Pulling the pin oh-so-smoothly would not have been possible: he would have to drive the pin, like punching out a rivet! The Blacksmith who forged these shackles would have made certain that no casual tug of a slender pin could free Real Live Dragons. Then again, it was one of the most moving scenes in the entire series.

@I am Fighterman I agree, it’s more than likely that because the Lannister kids were already inbred that they desired to be yet more inbred like the Targaryens. The genetics 🧬 of inbreeding ASOIAF style

I've not gotten into Game of Thrones, but after watching this clip alone, I think I will have to now. Tyrion spoke to them like I would have 😂

This was the moment where (briefly) I had hoped that Tyrion was not warped by his family because he was not a Lannister, and that he would become a dragon rider. Buuuuttt, we all know how it all turned out and just like Tyrion I think a little part of me cried itself to sleep that night.

Dany, Jon and Tyrion should've been the dragon riders. Targaryen, Stark and Lannister united. Winning the iron throne for Dany.

His acting in everything he's ever done is sublime. To think he's acting in that scene to someone in a green suit probably waving a stick pretending to be a dragon

One thing for sure Tyrion was brave for his size. As brave as Jamie but he never got any acknowledgement for that. This is a very brave thing to do. I think only Tyrion touched a dragon like that. Jon was a Targaryn.

The image of Baby Tyrion saying "he could be little, like me!" pulls on my heartstrings more than I would have thought. It’s the kind of thing a little kid would say, but the innocence in the delivery also makes me wonder if this was a time before he’d had to deal with people really mocking him for his height. Or before he’d been old enough to understand it.

Before he went there he said some words " dragons didn't hurt you right ? Becoz they know who are friends of theirs " with grey worm and missandei This shows how tyrion strongly believes his words

In the books, Quentyn Martell releases them and tries to tame them using a whip. He gets burnt heavily and dies three days after. A pretty cool scene which they should have put in the show 😑

They were young. Is it said anywhere in HOD how old the dragons in it are? If they're reptiles, reptiles continue to grow as they get older, although their rates of growth become slower as they age. The big dragons could be the oldest (and could be VERY old).

@davegrenier1160 Vhagar is somewhere around 180 years old. GRRM really needs to add the 5 year gap. Danys dragons are just not gonna be big enough for the Long Night in only a couple years
