The choir is to represent a shooting in Charleston were people who were black were shot for a hate crime in a church. Also the horse is to represent death. And the dancing is represent the distraction we get from the news. Like the kids recording the kids and gambino dancing instead of the violence in the back. You can take a lot in this vid.

My Interpretation childish is showing and representing that black entertainers, politicians anyone who made it out the system, are the new Jim Crow, saying in the begin “we just want the money” he’s being egotistical saying “we want to...” but really meaning him as in I (black entertainers, politicians) when he shoots and kills the black man he looks back at him like he’s better then him, which most black entertainers think after selling themselves out to make money. Ps (Candice Owen) His dances are what The original Jim Crow was used to distracted the white masses. It also symbolizes what most white people over the age of 30 think about black culture as stupid dumb like rap song, clothes, dances, like they did back in Jim Crow era, When you see the young black kids come in the frame copying Glover (aka) New Jim Crow dances after and while the violence in the background proceeds, Childish dancing is the distraction to reality. Since most black kids in America don’t understand or lack the ability to understand what’s happening in the America but the newest dance, they can get do and know without hesitation. At the same time when he walks away he talks about reality, but when he’s with the kids he talks about being pretty and the usually thing that are popular amongst the younger generation. Also dancing reflects All America as the chaos in the background proceeds without getting anyone’s attention only until he shoot then everyone stops, getting everyone attention like the Charleston Church shooting, school shootings, and many others. It’s crazy how this music video is so relevant since you see it in real time, since covid 19 with limit entertainment, unemployment, and literally the stoppage of the world, has people dealing with everyday reality and events of racism, how we treat each other. If Covid 19 wasn’t a thing guarantee you George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, Ahmed Arbery, would’ve last about week before it faded off for by unimportant things in society. People on the so called system would still be looked at like scum, but now that a lot of people need unemployment, because of a situation that they themselves couldn’t change, gives people a reality to a lot of poor people exact situation. Then as the music goes on Glover say “dont let them catch you slipping now”, I interpreted as him trying to keep up with the image of not falling off as a celebrity, then in the end as he takes a break rolls a joint he realizes he’s part of the problem so he escapes, running through the tunnel could represent Underground Railroad, A slave running from his plantation, with the slave hunters trying to catch him

The end is similar to the sunke place in the movie Get Out. Psychological entrapment. I take it as when he was dancing he was not aware of the reality (background) and when it stoped he woke up and saw. You are balck in the US a violent country with mass shooting and racism. He tries to run away when he sees the truth but stereotypes, racism, hate etc wont let him go. Society wants to pull him back into the entertainment and forgetting cycle.

It's about what's happening in American,and I'm American,there is a shooting almost every couple of weeks we're so used to it now,the gun use is abused.Kids are going to school and killing kids.There was a church shooting,the guns are handled with care and the bodies are tossed away like nothing,it's like a shooting happens and then America seems to forget a week later,there is no change.The cops are way out of control,shooting children,and everyone else,and lately in the news it's been more black shooting by the police.Death rides on a white horse and brings hell with him,hell is the police,weed is legal a lot of places here.The cars we killed the car industry,Detroit was the biggest car city and it's been abandoned,killings here are out of control,But this is America.Sadly nothing will change it seems like,as I'm typing this I just heard about 6 gun shots go off in my area,anyone can get their hands on guns here it's so easy,I have 5 daughters,I own a gun myself,however it isn't in my house for the fear that my kid might play with it,or one of my teens might shoot up a school.I don't think my child would do that,but you never know with a child,they think like a child and will act upon emotions.America has def taken a turn for the worst rt now.If someone breaks in my house I'm unprotected rt now,6 females in one house with no gun.But this is America,they don't give a shit about any of us it's sad but true.As long as we pay our taxes and shut up the government is happy.And nothing changes,someone told me there was a school shooting in Texas,2 days ago,I didn't even asked what happen how many ppl got hurt,I said we should be used to this by now sorry for the families but this is America,Guns are more important then ppl.

andrea burns This comment is a really interesting insight into America and what many people think. I agree there are so many school shootings now that it's not even a surprise when one is reported which is such a sad and disgusting thing to be able to say. But it's true. I'm glad you think twice about having guns around children because as you say, they don't understand the significance of pulling a trigger on a gun and therefore are more likely to do it. I really hope that the US can one day start to improve this and that it can become a safer place for you and your children. Thank you for your comment.

I think the guy on the horse was either Death or an early KKK member because, in the beginning, they wore bags on their heads. I think the dance on the car was Michael Jackson. It stuck with me that everyone scattered when the black man didn't EVEN HAVE A GUN! The ending makes me cry every damned time, he's running in terror from middle-class white people. How did he have the gun when he shot Trayvon Martin's dad? When we saw him from the back, he didn't have it then. It shows how easily you can get one in America. They just appear when you want one. Someone committed suicide behind him, someone was run over by a car. He did "black-face actor movements." I've watched this video about 50 times, I can't help but comment each time and I still get goosebumps each time I see it. There is so much racism in America and gun violence. There have been so many gun shootings on school children and the government and the media try to focus everyone's attention on trivia like the Trumpster fire, royal weddings, Fox News, Bill O'Reilly and his garbage mouth, rich white celebrities, and ANYTHING but the violence that is going on. A white kid shot people in a church. You have to watch it over and over again. There is so much meaning in it. x He says at one point, "This is a celly; this is a tool." Meaning the kids with their faces covered are filming everything instead of doing anything.

@paulagwhyte17206 жыл бұрын
OK, I did not know that was a rumour going. I saw him and thought, "Wow, that looks exactly like Trayvon Martin's dad and since everything in the video has MEANING and is symbolism I took from it that it was about the ridiculously pathetic reaction to Trayvon's death being swept under the rug and his parents' feelings not given a shit about. That's what I saw myself in the video. That was my pure gut reaction after watching the video. Yeah, I had to play it a few times in a row, more than a few times when I watched it and pause it and watch again to see everything. But I'm older and yeah, white and Canadian so my reaction might be different from other peoples'. I also don't watch TV. But I did watch the news growing up and I learned a lot of history in school and on TV about Civil Rights and Jim Crow and segregation, The Civil War, I mean we learned it intensely. Young people aren't learning this enough. My younger kids aren't getting the video. I have to keep explaining stuff. Like when I read them, "To Kill A Mockingbird" my four boys did NOT get the hate toward black people. They didn't get why the jury was all white men, they didn't get why Tom Robinson was in so much trouble for nothing. It was so bizarre! I didn't realize how the school system was falling so short. I guess I was falling short. Not realizing they needed to know this stuff because they don't see it. We live in a small, Canadian town and I didn't see racism growing up in real life, in my family. I just went way off on a tangent. Sorry.

You know I didn't even notice that, well I saw it but I wasn't thinking about it .When he raised his hand I heard a scream and then you noticed the kids run away so it's like they were afraid that he was going to have a gun in his hand and rightfully so....But I guess this time he didn't but you notice how they ran. You said you didn't get it but you did... without even noticing. That really was interesting to note that he brought up his hand he had nothing in there in his hand and their first instinct was to run and then there's also some people who say that the silence represents 17 kids who got shot in Florida but it's one action and it has multiple layers of symbolism but you got the first part good catch.
