Why are people tired of hearing him talk? What's he supposed to do when they ask him questions? Elite athletes get interviewed in all sports. I'm glad he had plenty to say. I enjoy Noah.

@@AthleticsEditz Based on what we've seen from him in the 100m thus far, I would expect him to actually go slower than last season. But I am thinking that Lyles might have peaked a bit for this race and so I think 14.55s is possible. I can't imagine Lyles going sub 14.5s today, unless he absolutely peaks (would be foolish of him) for this one race, which is not happening.

I’m a big psychology guy and I’ve done a lot of research into body language. Read many books. When the interviewer asked Noah what he thinks is causing such a big drop in times and boost in performance of the track stuff is staying the same. Noah seemed a bit uncomfortable and even scratched his nose. I’m not saying he is lying, just saying those are tell tale signs someone is about to say something they know is not true

If my memory serves me right, Tyson Gay has only once gone 9.7s low. That's in his 9.71s race in Berlin 09 against Bolt. Gay split 6.39s at 60m in that race. If NL splits 6.39s at 60m, he's not dropping a 9.71s, because his top end is not on Gay's level. A 6.39s from Lyles would likely translate into a 9.79s. So, I don't think the comparison at 60m holds.

@@forevergoated999 Aren't we talking about the 100m? Tyson Gay split 3.32s and 3.33s from 60...100m. Nobody has split faster than that other than Usain Bolt. Lyles has never split sub 3.37s from 60...100m and could only do so with a 6.48/6.49s split at 60m. When Lyles splits 6.43s he might not be able to maintain his 3.37s split from 60...100m, as we've seen in Budapest last season, where he split 3.40s. Now, if Lyles is neck and neck with Tyson Gay at 60m (when Gay ran his 9.71s race), that means Lyles is splitting 6.40s or around that - if what he is saying is true. So, if Lyles is splitting 6.40s at 60, what can we expect from him in the 100m? 6.40s+3.40s = 9.80s. But to be honest, I don't believe he is dropping 6.40s in practice and then not even being able to drop a sub 10s in the 100m when he shows up.

@AthleticsEditz
@AthleticsEditz 2 ай бұрын
No, the wind was +2.0m/s, so it was not over the allowable limit. It is not, in my opinion, his best ever race though as that would have to be his 9.71 second place in Berlin, 2009, as he ran that with only a +0.9m/s tailwind. Give him a +2.0 tailwind in that race and he runs something like 9.65 (and Bolt would've run close to 9.50).
@stevie586
@stevie586 2 ай бұрын
It was legal wind…he also ran 9.68 windy. Also, many don’t realize just because the anemometer measured wind at 2.0 doesn’t mean it was 2.0 the entire time. It only measures the highest wind during the race…not average. Last, Tyson has run 9.7 at least six times, most with very little wind!
