I found the military flag used when my dad was buried. The one given to the family after the ceremony. It was in a drawer in the attic. I had it dry cleaned and had my friend in the navy help me property fold it. I brought a display case and the small plaque it came with engraved with his name, rank, and branch/dates of service. It was a surprise Christmas gift. I hadn't seen mom cry like that before. It was really touching, she had to be so tough after dad died. There isn't a dollar amount that can replace memories.

this sugar grinder was used to make granulated sugar for home use, because before they didn't sell granulated sugar, but the sold sugar in loaves, which were solid and you had to break off bits of sugar and grind them to use.

I grew up watching/helping my dad dismantle, fix, & rebuild practically everything under the sun in his workshop. Now that I’m older I understand that it’s a form of therapy, and I feel important & satisfied when I build or fix things. Now his health is deteriorating and his workshop is as he last left it years ago, too weak/shaky/sore to do anything. It makes me really sad. I learned so much about ‘the right tool for the job’ from him, and more.

What a terrific restoration and a great reminder that with basic tools we do not need to purchase three types of sugar. Many times in former life I’ve used a mill to convert raw sugar into powder for a recipe. Wishing you many happy memories of Grandma while you use her grinder. Peace brother

Watching this inspired me to start working on restoring my grandad's old 386 DOS computer, which he taught me to use when i was very very little! I know it's different work and different skill set, but the reasons are the same. My grandma had all sorts of antique kitchen gadgets like this; a flour mill, an apple peeler, coffee grinder, etc. that were always fun to use. Many of the kitchen items she used every day were generational, having belonged to her mom or her grandma. UnfortunateIy when they both passed, my jerk uncle wanted to sell off everything to antique shops. I was only able to get the computer bc he thought it was worthless, which it probably objectively is, but not to me.

The magnet holder in the shot blast cabinet is a great idea - saves the gloves a bit - and painful if they do get punctured. What a beautiful result! Question: does powder coating affect the spring differently, since it is a part that must flex?
@zerumsum16402 жыл бұрын
powder coating won't really affect a spring's properties, but depending on how stiff the coating material is it may flake with repeated cycles like any other paint. I'd suggest something rubberized that has some flex to it instead.
