I'd consider it more of a reminder with Tyrion towards Joffery, similar to what he said in the throne room. Quite interesting moment, because it’s probably the only time in tv show when we can see that Joffrey really was proud of his “father’s” legacy. And he’s got a point. Tywin was basically waiting for the right moment to act, while Robert and Ned were making history on the battlefield.

Joffrey occassionally has moments of deep clarity in GoT. He's literally the only guy in the show who pushes for the concept of a centralized army loyal to the crown rather than the deeply unreliable vassal system of Westeros. He doesn't have a point at all. From the POV of House Lannister (and other folk who would suffer if it fell in the course of conflict), Tywin's decision was perfect. Robert and Ned had their personal motivations and they felt they had no choice but to act that way. Meanwhile: * Tywin had absolutely no reason to show loyalty to Aerys and spend men/materiel for his cause. But if he ended up backing the wrong side in the war, his House as well as the Westerlands would likely suffer what he himself did to King's Landing. * Yes he would prefer to see Aerys removed but Robert and Ned were already sticking their necks for that so why should he? * Tywin is already among the top powerful men in the Kingdom, possibly 2nd most. Compared to what he stands to lose if he gets involved in the war, the incentive of gain here isn't all that much. * Tywin managed to become a part of the "winning side", without having to pay the costs and risks through the long haul of war, while House Baratheon, Stark and their allies hollowed themselves out for it. This is like having your cake and eating, and a total win for House Lannister and it's vassals.

Charles Dance in this scene is one of my favourites in the entire show, no idea how but he just looks over it and not willing to put up with any BS - really makes you know not to mess with Tywin

This is peak Game of Thrones, no funny CGI dragons or big battles to invoke fear. Only dialogue exchange could create the tension. The death of Tywin Lannister was where the downfall kickstarted. Game of Thrones was a masterpiece until Season 4's ending. Season 4 was like the pinnacle of best moments and writing, with Oberyn Martell scenes, Joffrey death, Tyrion court scene and many more. After that it all went south and people now forgot it. It is the only show which you can say a Masterpiece and a Disaster together.

Tywin: "Any man who must say 'I am the king' is one who lets his arrogance run wild. And in that heightened state of inflated and over-stroked personal ego, he would not know what it truly means to be king!"

I mean Joffrey is atleast right in saying that Robert had won the real war, while Tywin hid on Casterly rock and came sweeping as scavenger when the war was already determined.

Tywin In the book: Aerys (The Mad King) also feels the need to remind men that he was king and he passing fun of ripping tongue out as well, you could ask Ser Ilyn Payne about that but you'd get reply.🦁

The Red Wedding event from the A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones universe can certainly be considered a war crime from the perspective of the laws and customs of war in that fictional world. Some key factors that would classify the Red Wedding as a war crime. 1. Treachery and violation of guest right: The massacre was carried out under the guise of hospitality and guest right, which was a sacred tradition in Westeros. Violating this trust is considered a grave betrayal. 2. Targeting of non-combatants: The victims included women, children, and unarmed men who were attending the wedding as guests, not as armed combatants. 3. Scale of killings: Hundreds of people were murdered, including members of noble houses like the Starks who were leading the war against the Boltons and Freys. 4. Desecration of the dead: After the massacre, the bodies of Robb and Catelyn Stark were mutilated, which was seen as an egregious violation. So from the perspective of the laws of war and chivalric codes that existed in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, the Red Wedding would almost certainly be classified as a war crime and a grievous breach of the rules of warfare. It was an act of treacherous mass killing that violated the sacred traditions of the land.

Its the small things and gestures here that makes characters so believable. Notice how Varys glance at Cersei while telling Jeofrrey that Sansa is his aunt and he shouldn´t do stuff like that. He knows, that Cersei would understand that such behavior would bring them troubles in time. And he also knows that she is the only one who can possibly control him (even tho just a little)

Despite Joffrey being technically a cuckoo bird of two incestuous siblings, the fact is Joffrey always remained absolutely convinced he was Robert's true son, and Robert also treated him as such. His true origins are terrible but who raised him and who Joffrey thought he actually was should amount to something.
