I'd consider it more of a reminder with Tyrion towards Joffery, similar to what he said in the throne room. He's trying to make sure that Joffery understands that just because he's king, doesn't make him a god. He can't do whatever he wants without consequence. Tywin on the otherhand was fully prepared to get physical with him.

One thing you can give Tywin is that Yes he is a very cruel old man but he’s calculating and does everything for the sake of Legacy and the reputation of their family name. He’s sees that Joffrey is Cruel in a mindless way that doesn’t really matter and a grander scale.

Quite interesting moment, because it’s probably the only time in tv show when we can see that Joffrey really was proud of his “father’s” legacy. And he’s got a point. Tywin was basically waiting for the right moment to act, while Robert and Ned were making history on the battlefield.

Joffrey occassionally has moments of deep clarity in GoT. He's literally the only guy in the show who pushes for the concept of a centralized army loyal to the crown rather than the deeply unreliable vassal system of Westeros. The Targaryens got away without it because they had dragons and then when they didn't it was only a matter of time before they were challenged.

He doesn't have a point at all. From the POV of House Lannister (and other folk who would suffer if it fell in the course of conflict), Tywin's decision was perfect. Robert and Ned had their personal motivations and they felt they had no choice but to act that way. Meanwhile: * Tywin had absolutely no reason to show loyalty to Aerys and spend men/materiel for his cause. But if he ended up backing the wrong side in the war, his House as well as the Westerlands would likely suffer what he himself did to King's Landing. * Yes he would prefer to see Aerys removed but Robert and Ned were already sticking their necks for that so why should he? * Tywin is already among the top powerful men in the Kingdom, possibly 2nd most. Compared to what he stands to lose if he gets involved in the war, the incentive of gain here isn't all that much. * Tywin managed to become a part of the "winning side", without having to pay the costs and risks through the long haul of war, while House Baratheon, Stark and their allies hollowed themselves out for it. This is like having your cake and eating, and a total win for House Lannister and it's vassals.

While this is a great Tywin moment, Joffrey is completely right about what he said and it was a rare moment, where you can see Tywin visibly surprised and offended, however deep inside he knows Joffrey was right. It's also a rare moment where Joffrey showed some guts and wit (despite being shut down immediately). Its also great the way Cersei looks at Joffrey, she also knew he crossed a line, but he indeed said the truth. Tywin did indeed dodge Robert's Rebellion and didnt participate in major battles untill the very end where he chose the already winning side and sacked King's Landing and proclaimed Robert as king.

Joffrey wasn’t wrong about Tywin. Waiting to see which side is winning the war before committing your armies to them and stealing some of the glory is a cowardly move. Again Tywin tries to take all the credit for winning the battle of the blackwater when he only arrived after Stannis forces were already largely depleted from the defence that Tyrion put up against them. He also got outsmarted by Robb when he had to go up against him fairly and resorted to having him killed during dinner instead because he couldn’t beat Robb on the battlefield.

I like that Otto is kinda like a "Tywin light", Alicent is like a "Cersei light" and Aegon II is like a "Joffrey light". However this doesn't make them boring or uninteresting characters. Quite the opposite: by being less radical than their GoT counterparts, they feel more human and more realistic. While Tywin thinks he rules the whole world, Otto is more aware of the limits of his power. While Cersei (as a woman) tries to play a strong man in the world ruled by men, Alicent still has the feminine sensitivity and sentiment. While Joffrey has always been an arrogant bully, Aegon II at least intially tries to be a humble and patient king before loses his temper due to his losses.

To watch your allies weaken and become more dependent on you. There's that saying the most dangerous man in the room is often the quietest. I think that speaks levels to Tywin, he's quiet and cunning. Saying what needs to be said, only when it needs to be said. This gains attention from others, as he doesn't fill the room with nonsense. When he speaks, others listen. When he's insulted he just stares ominously at the insulting with a quiet but dominant demeanor.

Tywin hated Tyrion. Not only because of the mothers death, but because he saw so much of himself in him. He wished, that Jaime would match his intelligence and strategic mind, but it was his dwarf son, the "Imp". Brilliant writing.

It’s not a fair comparison Aegon is a lot of things but he is still a dragon and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. Joffrey on the other hand is scared just to leave the Red Keep. Aegon has a spine, Joffrey is spineless and yet both appear to be pliable. The only difference is Joffrey is the publicly pliable and malleable in front of others. Aegon is pliable and manipulated discreetly Larys and Cole for example.

Remains one of the most satisfying scenes in the show. Joffrey may be king, but he's no longer the power in King's Landing. Also one of the rare cases where Tywin intervenes on Tyrion's behalf. While he seemed somewhat amused by this whole scene, he jumps in as soon as Joffrey threatens his son. No one threatens a Lannister.

Joffrey looked up to Robert Baratheon a lot, and shared his disdain for the Lannisters. When he becomes king, he tries to assert his control over House Lannister, first with Cersei when she slapped him and before his wedding, and he did bring her to heel. He then tries to go for Tywin, the real power in Westeros, first when he summons him to the throne room, and then here. And it is this moment where Joffrey actually realises he's the most powerful man in Westeros in name only

The Red Wedding event from the A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones universe can certainly be considered a war crime from the perspective of the laws and customs of war in that fictional world. Some key factors that would classify the Red Wedding as a war crime. 1. Treachery and violation of guest right: The massacre was carried out under the guise of hospitality and guest right, which was a sacred tradition in Westeros. Violating this trust is considered a grave betrayal. 2. Targeting of non-combatants: The victims included women, children, and unarmed men who were attending the wedding as guests, not as armed combatants. 3. Scale of killings: Hundreds of people were murdered, including members of noble houses like the Starks who were leading the war against the Boltons and Freys. 4. Desecration of the dead: After the massacre, the bodies of Robb and Catelyn Stark were mutilated, which was seen as an egregious violation. So from the perspective of the laws of war and chivalric codes that existed in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, the Red Wedding would almost certainly be classified as a war crime and a grievous breach of the rules of warfare. It was an act of treacherous mass killing that violated the sacred traditions of the land.

Despite Joffrey being technically a cuckoo bird of two incestuous siblings, the fact is Joffrey always remained absolutely convinced he was Robert's true son, and Robert also treated him as such. His true origins are terrible but who raised him and who Joffrey thought he actually was should amount to something.
