Thanks! I used Vegas 9 from Sony but this time I encoded the original file at 15Mbps instead of 7Mbps. I was under the impression that I would not get any kind of benefit from using a bitrate higher than 7Mbps (the one I used before) but I can see more detail in this one so I think I'll use this new preset from now on.
