Just topping up my lack of trout fishing knowledge for the early season 👍🏻 thanks for some useful info I’ve just bought a couple of those Hansen hotshots they don’t have the dots on have you added those ?and do you think they make a difference?

hey thanks for watching, yes i added the dots on myself based of the westin trout runner pattern, i think it stands out on lures and gives the trout a target to home in on, the lures in the video have landed me a few fish but it can be a case of some lures work better than others in certain areas/states of the tide, its a case of experimentin which works best, fish move alot early on 2 so wheres quiet 1 day can have fish the very next but if you find them you can land a few because they tend to be in a shoal early on, thanks for watchin mate and i hope it helps on your sea-trout hunt 👍👍

@@whitetroutchannel Thanks 👍🏻 I’m going to start my bass hunt a month earlier this year but shall probably start fishing smaller trout lures in the hope I may pick one up as the bass don’t seem to be so fussy so edging my early season bets is the plan 👍🏻 still a while away but starting to form a plan 🎣 tight lines

its strange how picky the trout can be sometimes in their preference for lure size i find 5cm- 10cm the target range for trout but i know the bass will take much larger lures, good luck mate and keep me posted 👍👍

@@whitetroutchannel Hi James quick update I think I’ve had 5 or 6 bass now on the 23gram hotshot all on the smaller size so far! A quick question for you if you don’t mind how do you rig them ? I’ve lost two now and not on snags or anything it’s just like the hook has just come off 🤷🏻‍♂️ I used some hard fluorocarbon the supplied bead either end tied onto a split ring and that attached to the hook it’s almost like the vibration has loosened the knot this is not a problem I’ve ever had on any set up before any advice welcome 🙏

have a good trawl on ebay mate if you search it for shrimp flies or sandeel flies theres plenty and the same applies for the bombarda floats these you'll get what you pay for but at the min there where a few 15g slow sink abu garcia bombardas they are probably the best ones for the job in reguards to sea-trout, hope this helps and many thanks for the kind words and view mate 👍👍

Fascinating as always 👍 I've lost 2 good fish this weekend in the sea, one at least 4lb, they seem to hit and then just stop and shake the hook out, I can see them clearly. I was using solv piil with original treble double ringed and very sharp. Should I hit them harder? My drag set very fine for fear of ripping hooks out. Do you think they would stay on better with a single? I got some size 2 vmc inlines, or is it just what they do? I'm thinking of trying float and tiny fish bait if this continues. On a side note I had 7 bass in the same spot same session on live prawn but I've never had a trout touch one and yet you use shrimp flies, very confusing haha. Sorry for the long ramble again but sea trout from the sea has become a bit of an obsession this year 😂 👍 🎣

mate they are the houdinis of all fish its totally what they do, mate if your hittin them and you can see them you are winning, ive found thou theres maybe a slight drop on hook ups on the singles the fish you do hook stay on the line, they have a very thin membrane of skin at the maximillariy line at the side of there mouth and a treble can sometimes just rip it open and the hook just falls out, as for settin the clutch the clutch i nearly keep mine as tight as i dare, my theory being a tighter line will drive a hook better on a take, seatrout can be a riddle mate but doin what your doin id say your on the right path, if your gettin takes and follows thats half the battle

@@whitetroutchannel cheers buddy, I'm only getting a fish on maybe 1 in 3 sessions at best but it's just a 5min walk out the back door so I try a few chucks every opportunity I get. I'll try the drag a bit tighter, that way it should either set hard or not at all, last night was so close the lure flew past me when it shook off haha. All the best buddy 👍 🎣

@@dazlee3257 mate they can test your patience to levels you didnt think possible but you on them and one will stay hooked, i found playin them with the rod tip down too can help it cuts down slighty on the jumps but it they start that head shakin and rollin under the water that when the usually throw the hooks, good luck mate and keep me posted when you land one coz it WILL HAPPEN 👍👍

@@whitetroutchannel cheers mate gonna try again this eve when the bank holiday infestation dies down a bit. I've actually swapped rods for tonight, going to try an older longer softer one rather than the more modern short and stiff (only in fishing can you get away with these descriptions) and yes it's that rolling about and head shaking that chucks it every time. Believe it or not cod do the same wrecking with braid and pirks, the answer there is mono leader to cushion the shakes a bit, hence my soft rod approach applied to the trout haha 👍

@@dazlee3257 ive an 8ft med soft action 10-30g that usually serves me right for them mate, im flirting with converting back to mono but then if youve takes at range its like tryin to hook up on a rubber band!!, let me know how you get on mate hopefully you can get a few fished turned 👍👍
