Mate, i cant remember what license I got last year to fish Strangford from DAERA. I think it was the game rod licence for something like £17.50. Is this correct or not? The Nidirect website is still very confusing and grey when it come to fishing in Strangford lough. Is a licence only needed when targeting Sea Trout and Salmon?
@whitetroutchannelАй бұрын
yes mate your bang on the money with everything you said, the licence is 17.50 (thats under review at the min) and again your bang on with you only need the licence if your targeting seatrout or salmon OR you fishing in an area deemed a migratory route (thou thats a very grey area as what thats defined as im guessin its the old 1 mile from any river mouth entrance) the DEARA website is hopeless mate in terms of information they didnt even know you needed a licence to fish the lough until the people behind the failed ADSEA project informed them that under law it was required that was in 2003, id encourage every fishrrman to have a look at the 1966 fisheries act, theres a lot of stuff on it on angling regulations
@brillo86Ай бұрын
Looking at experimenting with single hook sizes. What do you think is the most effective size. I'm currently using the one that comes standard with the savage gear seeker lure as the replacement. I think it's a 3/0. Do you think a smaller size would be more effective or stick with that size.
@whitetroutchannelАй бұрын
@@brillo86mate im fishin about size 4 inlines circles at the min with the seekers and it covers them dead on, ive dropped down a bit to smaller hook sizes and it seems to be lip hookin them way better, i hooked a wee fish last year with the bigger hooks that come on them seekers and it prob killed it the hook went in that deep, the smaller lures mate like the 8-10g thinks im usin 6-8 circles just pendin on lure length n width, i just make sure the gape on the hook is about the same width as the widest point of the lure, the thing i say 4 singles mate is when there hooked they stay hooked if you get me

Surly trebles are not illegal ? @@peterjohnston4472 aye mate for seatrout and salmon in ALL deara areas its singles only and theres even restrictions on sizes nothin bigger than a 4 i think, thats it mate like who honestly wants to treat fish like that, it just gives fuel to all the anti-blood sport groups that would stop our way of life, the loughs not easy fishin mate id be the first to say it, one night you could see them next night its empty and could be empty for weeks, baitfish will be about next few weeks and theyll feed a few weeks and then be sick eatin fry and not take again until the autumn lol!! 😂
