I made the comment last time about the eye protection. I am a refrigeration tech for a county school system (I work for lunch ladies). I carry a box of cheap safety glasses on my van and hand them out to the other tradesmen when I catch them working without them. Years ago I saw a guy take a red hot fragment of sil-foss to the eye, he lost 30% of his vision in that eye.

I do residential refrigerators and under counter ice machines and have done a few ulines in the past . Usually the split off where the lines go up to the evap leak and pour oil usually I'd by white paint color. I have a h10 coming to help on Monday ,my srl2 bit it . but Uline recommends replacing the line set drier and evap (some times compressor if it ran dry) pulling a vac and weigh in . Similar to the unit you have there . Glad you found the leak . always best to get the customer going ,I hate collecting for diags and tell them it's done for just not my style .

I had a Green Leaf 1/4 keg cooler that was the same cooler only with a mechanical control. A friend insisted was a great cooler, but it would freeze everything and then get hot. I told him to change the control. No problems for about a year and then it started again. This time he wanted to look through the glass and see the temperature. He didn't care how much it cost. I put a Ranco ETC0000111 in the thing with a bunch of epoxy. Hell, the Ranco and the three conductor j-cable are worth more then the box, but it's worked ever since. You bring up a good point about what happens to these units when they are scrapped. I have seen some in recycling yards gutted, but not all of them make it there.

Why divide by 6 for the compressor amp draw?
@NorCal-refrigeration4 жыл бұрын
It was an old school thing lock rotor amps divided by 6 would be close to run amps. Now a days you can look up actual amps at conditions through apps no more guessing. As in my video the calculations were not even close. But I’ve done it like that so long I still do it. Lol

I have this Uline and my repairman says he can hear that the compressor has leaked oil into the system. Does that make sense?

Not really. Oil migrates threw the system with the refrigerant. Some cases the evap coil can get oil logged. But that’s called oil logged evap.
