Wanna know why that E-6 was a loadmaster "student?" Because when I was in from 2009-2013, they had HUGE re-enlistment bonuses (probably the same as Airforce special forces) due to the fact that there's not enough loadmasters in the Airforce.

When I was leaving the Airforce in October 2013, the loadmaster career field was "critically undermanned." Any field that is "critically undermanned" will receive a RE-ENLISTMENT/cross training bonus upon completion of training, NOT an enlistment bonus. You have to understand the difference between the two. Re-enlistment/cross training means that you're already in the Airforce and you're about to re-enlist for 4-6 more years. Whereas enlistment is joining the military for the FIRST TIME. With the high re-enlistment bonus, that will attract people to "cross train" into that career field which will increase the amount of manning for that career field. Once a career field is considered sufficient, they will reduce/eliminate the re-enlistment bonus. As of now, I do not have access to the re-enlistment multipliers for the loadmaster career field so you would have to ask somebody who is in the Airforce to see if there is one. Just to let you know, I was NOT a loadmaster while in the Airforce. If you have anymore questions, feel free to post it here..

I’m seeing about doing an inter service transfer as an E-6 and am interested in this job and possibly firefighter. What kind of hurdles should I expect to come across?

El Chasqui, the Air Force Enlisted Prior Service (PS) program does not transfer applicants from active duty from other branches. You must be separated from your other branch, and have your official DD 214 (prior active duty applicants - it must be an Honorable Discharge) before contacting an Air Force Recruiter for qualifications. An Air Force Recruiter cannot determine your qualifications without your official DD 214. Once you have separated and have your official DD 214 paperwork you may contact an Air Force recruiter to discuss qualifying, options, and opportunities and which AFSCs (careers) may be open at that time. I read here that you won’t know what you qualify for until you hit meps. I also read online that once you go into meps you can no longer back out of service. Does this mean if you join the air force you’re stuck with whatever jobs are assigned to you?

Technically it’s true. You won’t know what you qualify for till you complete MEPS. That’s where you take your asvab as well as a bunch of other tests. Like eye test... duck walk.. stuff like that. Your asvab score, depth perception, and color blindness will determine what you qualify for. Also they don’t just stick you with any job. They give you a list of available jobs and you narrow it down to the top 10 that you want. Then you could get any of those 10. ( this is how it went for me so it may be slightly different)

yeah you can cross train eventually. I have a buddy who went loadmaster to air transportation. Being a Port Dawg is kinda fun too. He didn't like the unpredictability of being a loadmaster. Didnt want to travel all the time.

Jon, vision corrected to 20/20 and full color vision and depth perception. Every qualified applicant receives a physical to include an eye exam. Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) doctors (not recruiters) will determine if you are medically qualified to join the Air Force and any career limitations. - Ray

Supplements policies, directs personnel, and establishes procedures to process, load, document, and report passengers and cargo transported by air, including paratroops and cargo moved using aerial delivery methods. Considers factors such as fuel load, aircraft structural limits, and emergency equipment required. Back when I was in my twenties and thirties the girls used to call me loadmaster I could get a load tied down about 8 feet yep you know that was probably not the peak that's the only one I ever measured big monster not only opal White kinda yellow.. that was awesome be better if I waited like 3 weeks you know holy man it was an apartment bedroom I mean if you had to have painted before you left it was painted all right. Probably a whole lot of healthy kids could have been born that was the master loadmaster
